You actually put one of those cheap metal bumpers on your phone. I just wrote a pretty scathing review of those on Amazon. Check it out here: Amazon.com: jean15paul's review of Luxury Ultra-slim Aluminum Metal Alloy HTC...

Copied and pasted here for others' reference:

I bought this case thinking a bumper case would protect the phone from minor bumps but still show off the beauty and feel of the phone. But as soon as I got this case out of the box I immediately knew I wanted to return it.

This case is ultra slim and metal, but there is nothing luxury about it. I understand that words like "elegant, stylish, and luxury" are subjective, but this case is very obviously cheaply made and of very poor quality.

The edges of the metal where it wraps around the phone are very sharp and I suspect it would scratch and scuff the phone. I was scared to even put it on. The "sponge lining" that is supposed to protect the phone is just a paper thin material that does not wrap around like the metal does. So the lining is not where the metal is sharpest and most likely to scratch.

Regarding the phones features, this case does not allow access to the SD card, SIM card, or IR blaster for the remote function.

One other thing I want to point out. The product description says the case is "anodized to create a hard protective coating in brilliant colors", but it is definitely not anodized. It is simply painted and done so very cheaply. I would call that false advertising. Also the paint looks like it would get scratched and chipped very easily, but I quickly returned this so I can't honestly speak to it's durability.

In conclusion, I cannot see this case providing any signifigant protection. Rather it is likely to actually CAUSE damage. It's very cheaply made and does not reflect the quality in the description, Speaking of the description, it misrepresents the actual design (painted, not anodized). My recommendation to everyone is DO NOT BUY THIS CASE.

I actually saw your Amazon review!

First of all, it's not "Luxury" anything. It's actually called the DuoMax aluminum bumper case, and it's sold formally by two online stores that I could find - Cellular Outfitter and Wireless Emporium. You said yours "does not allow access to the SD card or SIM card" but mine has cut-outs for that. So I'm not sure if yours is even the same thing. I think we can chalk up the "luxury" wording to a shady Amazon seller.

Secondly, I didn't get it for protection, but rather for grip. I wouldn't expect this bumper case to offer much protection in the event of a fall. I just needed something to hold onto that doesn't hide the phone's beauty.

Lastly, I'm looking at it now and I'm not seeing where the inner edges of the bumper case would dig into the phone. The inner part with the soft lining is in contact with the sides of the phone. The edges cup the phone, but I don't see how they would scratch it.

edit: Just took the case off and checked for scratches... no damage.

Cool. Sounds like a different case than I bought.

Wouldn't you fair better to wait and get a G3? Are the supposedly nice M8 speakers really worth all that the G3 offers?

g2
Lol you seem like someone who needs reassurance that it was ok to buy the g2 instead of the htc one. Did you want an HTC one but your mom said it was too expensive?

I was actually debating between the M8 and the G3. I decided on the M8. Here's why.

1) The G3's 2K screen actually reduces high end gaming performance. The G3 and the M8 have basically the same processor but the G3 is pushing twice as many pixels. The result is in processor intensive graphical tasks the G3's frame rate drops below 60 fps.

2) This is the first gen 2K smartphone display and I am always hesitant to buy 1st gen technology. (E.g. The difference between 1st and 2nd gen LTE phones was huge.) And there's really no 2K content to take advantage of the display.

3) I like Sense better than LG's UI. It's just feels smoother, faster, and better designed.

4) (And this is the most important) the M8 got me genuinely excited. I just wasn't as enthusiastic about the G3. Don't get me wrong, it's a great phone and my head said that I should give the G3 a hard look (which I did), but the M8 had my heart (metaphorically speaking) from the beginning.

I was a little concerned about the M8 camera, but it's been plenty good enough for me.

Red is dope. Got 3 of them an one gray one an it looks way better next to the gray color looking one.

sent from my Red HTC M8 using Tapatalk because all Xda apps f/c 😠

So I have a g2 and it's time to upgrade and it's m8 or g3.
My love of my g2 should make the g3 a no Brainer, but I can't shake the m8 thought. Signal strength is important, anyone have comparable dBm to a g2 or nexus?

I would get the G3. Seems to be a better piece of kit unless you plan to use your phone as a boom box.

Or game. Not only is G3 lower performing right off the bat due to the higher resolution on essentially the same CPU (and I think the exact same GPU), but a GSM Arena test also mentioned excessive heat build up that caused it to throttle back during extended gaming and reduced performance even more. The M8 kept running smooth.

Something to consider if you plan to use processor intensive apps.

Right. I always discount gaming. The most complex game I play on my phones are Tank Hero: LW, Monopoly, and Manik. ...a caclulator could handle those.

I'm playing Deus Ex right now on my M8. It's pretty sweet!

I will be picking up the M8 (Finally decided to take a chance after researching the G3 and M8 extensively), does anyone know if T-Mobile has or will have any other color than gun metal grey? I prefer arctic-silver.

I like the way both the silver and the gunmetal look. I've got the gunmetal but after hearing that the silver is less slippery I wish I had gone for it instead.

Will you not protect it with a case?
