HTC One (M8): Honestly This Has To be The Best Looking Phone Case I Have Owned

Re: Honestly This Has To be The Best Looking Phone Case I Have Owned.

I have the spigen slim armor case, but feel like it doesn't help the overall grip situation, especially with the added size. It's got that smooth matte finish that doesn't really give much traction on your fingers. I was on the couch with my arm around a girl, trying to google something with my free hand, and it was very unwieldy. I almost find it easier to hold without the case. Have any of you found other cases that minimize the bulk, and have that semi tacky, rubbery texture to them, that makes it easier to grip? And for that matter, isn't 35$ like all the other cases in the stores now.

I just went to set up the IR blaster; i didnt give it any thought till seeing people comment about it in this thread. I like it so far, seems like a great tool to have. So i guess not having it be blocked is also a concern with the case.

15 years ago, that statement would have come across with an entirely different meaning :D

Good looking case, but like another poster said, I don't like how it hides the back of the phone. With all due respect, I like the SUPCASE Beetle much better. Just got it today, and it is sexy on sexy. Here's a quick photo, but this Amazon link shows many more.

I have this case too, I think it's the best one I've seen but the issue it has is that when you take pictures with a flash the pics get a washed out/halo type thing in the frame closest to the flash.
Kind of bummed about that but as I was looking through pics from my last phone out of the 500 pics I had, like two I had used the flash so I'm keeping the case.
I thought about using a dremel tool to alter it a bit, but we'll see how motivated I really get.

I agree the Spigen cases are awesome.Especially the on for the M8. I only use Spigen cases now. They are that good, attractive, and usually cheaper than the other highend cases.

Sent from thr Note 3...and yeah, its spectacular.

I'm using a Seidio Surface Case with Kickstand. It's very slim and adds just a little grippiness. It provides great protection, but does hide the awesome look of the phone. It's not clear.

Can you still use the IR blaster?

Re: Honestly This Has To be The Best Looking Phone Case I Have Owned.

Has ANYONE seen in person or even seen a video of the blue dot view case lol, or even the orange one. They are like the "unicorn" impossible to find versions. Even the black one is hard to find. I agree though $50 is kinda steep for the dotview. That Spigen is a AWESOME deal for 20.

I actually saw the Blue Dot View case at a Verizon store in my area. I was so tempted to buy it, but I didn't. This was like around 2 weeks ago. :)

Re: Honestly This Has To be The Best Looking Phone Case I Have Owned.

I potentially see the need for a case, but it goes against nearly everything that prospective smartphone buyers talk about when it comes to new technology. People rip on phones because they are too bulky, or too heavy, or because they are made out of "cheap" materials.

So then, you buy your brand new M8, with wonderful brushed aluminum finishes, and slap a bulky, plastic case on it that dramatically increases the phones' volume and covers up that "high quality build" that you all wanted. It just makes no sense to me.

If a manufacturer made a phone that had the exact dimensions of a phone that was already inside of a case, made it out of durable plastic, and told you that it was "drop resistant" (just like a phone in a traditional case), NO ONE would buy it. They'd complain about how "cheap" and bulky it is. But that's exactly what people do to their phones.

LMAO not all cases add bulk and not all cases are cheaply made. Considering my work environment, I would love a phone to be like that out the box but every single phone that had any of those features sucked.

Re: Honestly This Has To be The Best Looking Phone Case I Have Owned.

There are a handful of "rugged" smartphones out there, but for the most part, you're right. The Mainstream manufacturers don't make them. I get the impression, from consumer demands, that even if someone did make one, it wouldn't be a very popular option. To make a phone durable, you have to take away some of the "pretty".

You are correct that not all cases are cheaply made. I've seen some very high quality phone cases. But if you're going to put your phone in a case, then it doesn't matter what the actual phone material is. It could be made out of cardboard, and then you could stick it into a customized stainless steel case. (And all cases add bulk. They go around the phone, so it has to be bigger than the phone, and makes the object you're carrying bigger. It may not seem like a lot, but the phone is larger in every dimension with a case on it. And the more durable the case, the bulkier it gets.)

Mine's still waiting to be delivered.
Damn postal service has 4 days off like the rest of us at Easter! ;)

Re: Honestly This Has To be The Best Looking Phone Case I Have Owned.

That case dose look nice although i am very happy with my dot view case it wont give you the best drop protection like the one you have but it dose protect the phone from scratches

Re: Honestly This Has To be The Best Looking Phone Case I Have Owned.

I will pick up a black Dot View case. Just wish HTC made a grey colored case too.

Re: Honestly This Has To be The Best Looking Phone Case I Have Owned.

Nope. It completely blocks the IR blaster from working.
On the other hand it is the best case I've owned & now my Dot View case is sitting on a shelf. Spigen makes the most well built & tight fitting cases IMO

I see no reason why you can't just take an exacto knife and cut the covering of the power button. The button is so reassessed that it shouldn't hurt if dropped. Its what I'm doing to my Seidio case when I get it shortly.

Re: Honestly This Has To be The Best Looking Phone Case I Have Owned.

I like the look of this case, but I'm not a fan of how the back of clear cases show scratches more.

I have the same case on my Moto X and I don't know if they are similar but mine is a clear matte finish so scratches are not seen. If they happen at all mine doesn't have a visible scratch yet.
