Htc one m8 or LG G3

The G3 is wider and that makes holding it a bit more difficult.

The G3 is wider by 4 mm. I don't think this is an issue unless the width of the M8 is the absolute max you can comfortably hold. I'll wait until I can get my hands on a G3 before deciding if it's too wide.

After adding Viper4Android audio performance on G2 is comparable to M8. If the G3 sounds like the G2 I'll just use V4A and tweak the speaker settings.

I would expect that issues like crosstalk, total harmonic distortion, noise level, and dynamic range mostly reflect the quality of the components and electrical engineering issues (shielding, capacitive coupling, etc.). Some of the tweaks that app offers would be more likely to increase noise and distortion than reduce it. I'm skeptical that software could compensate for hardware, and in either case it looks like it requires a rooted device. If you can correct me please do.

You can see that the M8 has gained some recognition for its sound quality here: New HTC One M8 audio review

I'd go with g3. Better screen, better camera, more ram and not that much larger than the m8.

Right....
LG3 5.7 x 2.9 x 0.3 inches; 5 oz.
M8 5.8 x 2.8 x 0.4 inches; 5.6 oz.

.1 inch difference.... LOL, I can see that being a real "stretch"....(pun intended).

The G3 is wider and that makes holding it a bit more difficult.

For me, it def would be the G3. The only alternative to a Samsung device that offers me an sd card slot, removable battery and 32gb option to boot! If HTC would of given me these things, I would of def jumped on it. We all have different needs for our devices.

Eh everyone who actually held it and used the device had no complaints about the width and actually said the rounded sides made it feel better to hold in hand. If there is one thing LG really does right, it's the feel of their devices in hand, not feeling as large as they really are.

I love my M8. No lag... Amazing sound from front speakers... Fits in your hand well bc of rounded back. I also love blinkfeed. Very customizable to include all your reads all in one place. Just check out highlights or dial into individual topics. Better than flip board or anything out there. I don't know if I'll ever be able to go back to a plastic phone.

Out of the 2 I would say the G3 would be a better buy. If you are buying on contract, buy the best available so you don't regret it later.

If you appreciate premium hardware quality then there is no competition. The M8 is the best smartphone out there.
If you care more about specs (that most of the time are meaningless), then wait to get the G3.

A 2k display seems like an overkill. I also don't like the skin LG is using. Another problem for me is the location of the power and volume buttons.
For me, coming from an iPhone there was only One choice. The M8 feels amazing in the hand and has great software. The G3 has amazing specs, a good design (but still plastic) and mediocre software.

My sentiments exactly. I was totally up for the M8. I bought it cash and REALLY wanted to like it. Without a doubt it's got the best skin out there. Just amazingly beautiful. It's reassuring to know that your $700 device is properly encased in metal instead of more plastic. the speakers are good, but significantly less loud than my four-year-old Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0. And those speakers show up (on the back) as small slots, each speaker with an area of about 3/16" x 5/16". so I wonder why it seem difficult for HTC to match 5 year old technology. Ultimately, although I liked a great deal about the phone, the screen was too narrow/small. Everyton complains about the "htc black bar" and the height of the unit, but for me, the proportions of that 5" screen made it feel very narrow and I felt like I was using a tiny iphone. I couldn't use the keyboard effectively, and webpages that I was used to seeing clearly were now too small. If that screen were 1/4" fatter, I'd probably still have it.

I'm looking at the LG G3 too. I DO feel that all this expense and hype about increasing screen resolutions is getting ridiculous. It's unnecessarily adding cost, complexity and consuming processing power and battery power. I would not be getting it for the display but despite the display. 5.5 seems like the right screen size for me. I do not like the idea of the power button and volume on the back. It just seems counterintuitive...especially when your finger is more likely to hit the camera lens. And although it LOOKS like metal, it's plastic.

The Xperia Z2, in terms of ID, is slick and well-made but it just seems like too much of a rectangular slab, without subtlety and any curved edges. Although it does have the forward-facing speakers, I wouldn't expect too much out of them.

I was REALLY hoping for that M8 Prime or whatever they were going to call it. Wanted that big screen AND the aluminum body and the speakers. Made of Un-Obtanium.

Many people love the M8. It was just "off" enough for me to be hesitant about keeping it. For $700 I should be completely thrilled with it.

Well, if I didn't have an M8 right now and I had to pick between an M8 and a G3, I'd still go with the M8, the battery on the M8 already fits my usage and I really like Sense compared to the G3's UI, then again I heard the G3's UI is improved from the G2 from a redditor that won a G3 in a contest.

Also the M8 has better build quality but I wouldn't be surprised if HTC goes with the G3's method of having plastic that looks and feels like metal on flagship devices to have the best of both worlds. Which would be the premium feel and design of metal and the signal quality of plastics. the reason the M8 has a logo bar is because that's where the phone's radios are, if they put them on the metal sides or top and bottom, then there would be poor signal quality because of the aluminum.

hmm, thats a tough one. i would have to say g3, but if speakers or compactness are important go with the m8.

Well, my recommendation will be HTC M8. I have reviewed both the smartphne from critics aspect. I found that M8 is a better option for users in place of LG G3.
