HTC One (M8) or Nexus 5?

M8 or N5

The value of nexus 5 is amazing to pass up. I actually don't mind the build, honestly if the speakers was near as amazing as BoomSound the gap would be closer.

I'm only upgrading (my 27th since 2009) because I can. :)

I am keeping the N5. It's a solid backup. The M8 shipped with a nano SIM... There was a card inside the box with a number and a code. I called from my work phone and punched in the code. N5 died and the M8 went live...

I too have had the nexus 5 since launch and just got the M8 yesterday. Personally I like the M8 better even though the nexus 5 is a good phone. There's a lot of little things I like more on the M8 than on the nexus 5.

So how will you use the N5 since your micro sim is now dead? Did you get an adapter?

The obvious answer is WiFi. If I need to make calls on it, ( which why would I not use the M8?) I would have to call AT&T and re-activate the SIM in the N5, which only takes a phone call...

I suppose I could find an adapter and make it super easy, but I haven't needed to make calls from it yet so it's not an issue.

Gotcha. I tend to switch phones depending on mood or situation so I need the ability to swap the SIM in and out. So if I get an M8 I will have to go the adapter route.

HTC One M8 hands down due to build materials, feel, chip set and battery life. Also, I can get stock Android on the best physical handset currently on the market. What's not to love?

I just got one a month or so ago to use my nexus 5 and iphone 5(nano to micro) and I can tell you it works great. I ha got a couple off ebay and they are crap compared to this. The nano sim actually snaps into place without worrying about it falling out inside your phone. It took it about a week to get to me on the west coast.

A camera which could give better day light performance(m8 doesn't) and at least average lowlight performance (N5 doesn't)
Few more things....

IMO Z2 looks like the device I would go for ,still waiting for some head to head comparisons of m8 Z2 and S5.

Also finger print scanner is least of my concerns :D

Please explain. The One M8 has MicroSD card storage, has good build quality, excellent audio quality, great display, all in all a good phone.

What's not to like other than price? $599 full retail at VZW is not bad, I may get one for $575 then root it and its factory unlocked already.

I don't own either and being on Verizon I cannot get the Nexus 5. However if I was on a network that had both I would probably opt for the Nexus 5 for 2 reasons. Half the price and the speed of updates.

Simple.
I like to crop images I take and cropping a 4mp image is not the best idea ,even 4x zoom on a 20mp(Z2) image would result in a 5mp image .
Also I don't like the huge footprint of m8 .

I have the X, N5 and the M8. (28 or 29 phones since 2008. I know I have a problem) I like each for different reasons.
The X feels great in the hand. Touch less controls are awesome. Battery life was good. Moto was doing awesome with updates.
N5 is solid, feels OK in the hand. Fast updates (why I'm not getting rid of it. So I can play with new OS when it comes out) Biggest thing was wireless charging. And stock had come a long way.
M8 has beautiful build quality. This phone feels awesome in the hand. It's just sweet. The speakers are great. The camera effects are fun. Especially if you have kids.

To sum up, all phones have good and weak points. Play with all your choices and then make your decision.

You all haven't made it easy. Every time I think I know what phone to get, someone else throws out a valid argument for the other.

For me it's up to this, wireless charging, stock android, and fast updates vs. Front facing speakers, great design, and micro sd. Cost really doesn't matter as it's only $10 a month difference on JUMP with T-Mobile.

I would say this then.... Get the M8 on JUMP. With the price of the N5 being reasonable you could get it in a few months if you don't like the M8

Actually the z2 with its 20.7mp camera uses pixel binning, which doesn't end up being a 20mp image. It ends up being an 8mp image, same goes for Nokia's camera's. They advertise 41mp but in all reality it ends up being a 5mp image. Look it up.

Personally I would go with the newest device that fits your needs. The older phone you get, the less relevant it's going to be by the time you want to/can upgrade

Check it out: HTC One M8 versus Nexus 5 | Android Central

The Nexus 5 and M8 are opposites in many ways, making this a difficult comparison. In our opinion, HTC has the better phone, offering exceptional hardware and software design, a great feature set and epic longevity. But for those wanting to save a few bucks, the sheer value offered by the Nexus is at least worth a look.

If you twisted our arm, though? We'd have to choose the metal body and all-day battery of the new HTC One.
