HTC One (M8) ("The All New One") seen in 'leaked' video

Re: HTC M8 ("The All New One" seen in 'leaked' video)

You can't be serious.

Absolutely serious. I never worry about power. I drop my phone or tablet on a charger whenever I am not using them. So they are always charged when I need them.

Okay.....you so have to plug in the wireless charging correct? But you can't plug in a device to power it?

Or am I totally screwed up in my thinking?

You never have to plug in your phone. Set it down to charge, pick it up to use...much more convenient than plugging and unplugging multiple times a day.

I get that part - but you have to plug in a charging pad of some sort in order to get the wireless charging for the phone/tablet?

Some have (sorta) completely wireless setups, IIRC. You charge a battery, the battery is hooked to the pad, and then you put the device on the pad.

Exactly. So your charging something in order to charge via wireless.

Yes. There's no "complete" wireless solution, at least as far as I can recall.

Re: HTC M8 ("The All New One" seen in 'leaked' video)

I'm not a huge fan of wireless charging as is, it seems to be a rather expensive alternative to make something that isn't that difficult easier to use.
Maybe I'm just turned off because of the problems Lumia 920's had with wireless charging.

Unless we get into Nikola Tesla's experiments with wireless power, but even that is wired on some level. I'm really digging your profile pic btw

It's good for saving wear and tear on a charging port though.

How much wear and tear can a charging port have? Unless you are jamming the plug into the phone for some unknown reason

It should go without saying....but since you asked....Daily use. That's how much. I've had cords on some of my phones not want to stay in over time. It's a real PITA. But some people don't keep their phone longer then 6 months so they may never even notice.

I have never had nor heard of that problem, lol. Unless you are literally charging your phone multiple times per day none of that should be happening

Re: HTC M8 ("The All New One" seen in 'leaked' video)

I tried to watch this video and just couldn't take it any longer. I just wanted to grab the phone from the kid, run it through its paces and then do a real review outlining what is different and better/worse over the HTC One 2013. This kid not only has zero clue how to review a device, he didn't have a clue about it and ultimately got his parents fired. He ranks up there with the girl who posted on FB about her dads settlement for age discrimination that had a NDA tied to it. She can suck it no trip to Europe for her and Dad is out $80k+ and that sucks given what happened to him.

He's just a child, pretty sure he had no idea what an nda is. He could conceivably land his parents or whoever in trouble, but it's not like the phone didn't leak long before this. This just happens to be the first recorded footage of it.

I'm pretty sure his father was already fired.

Oh ok. Still can't blame him much, sure he made a bad decision, but we all have to remember he's a kid and the phone didn't appear out of thin air, someone obviously gave it to him or at the least made him aware of the fact that it's a new device.
