HTC One (M8): Wanna leave Apple but...

4G seemed to be destroying my battery, if your signal strength is weak it's bad news

As someone said there are issues on every release even Apple... The M8 IMO is the best phone for someone coming from Apple....

I am on my second one (dropped the first and couldn't take the scratches) and both have been perfect. Great build quality. the only phone up there with Apple in quality and smoothness.

I have played with it and the build quality is on par. With regards to the software, Android has come a long way. It is also more flexible and my workflow is smoother using it. There are some issues I have some apps and app quality, but I recently made the switch from an iPhone 5 to a Moto X and I love it. I still love iOS, and I like Apple devices (I will not give up my MacBook Air for anything other than a new MacBook) but I think I will have an Android phone from now on. Get that M8, I think it you will enjoy it very much. There are usually issues with new phones, even those from Apple.

P.S. I am intrigued as to what the iPhone 6 has in store.

I know I'm going to be chased out of this place for saying it, but I'm back on my 5S after a little over 3 weeks on the M8.

I initially made the switch back to see how much I'd miss the M8. I do, a little. But then I used the camera on the 5S. Wow. What an amazing difference. It's really night and day. With the M8, I felt like I was using my iPhone 3GS camera.

Then I realized that I really like the smaller size of the 5S. It's just comfortable to hold one handed. I do miss the larger screen of the M8, but the ergonomics were a nightmare. I could use it, but it never felt comfortable. The screen size might make up for that but I do appreciate the better feel of the 5S.

I still have the M8 and I've already gone through the nightmare that is getting all my stuff from iCloud to google. But now that that's done, jumping back and forth between the 2 devices should be relatively easy.

Yes, the camera on the iPhone is much better. It all depends on your priorities. If a great camera is important to you then the HTC One is not for you. If you don't really care, then there is nothing better than the One.

I just switched from iPhone 5s to HTC m8 one week with it already been using it a lot and no issues so far!!!

I've had iphones since the 1st gen and always felt I would never go to android, but when it came to upgrade time I stood in the phone store with the 5s in one hand and the M8 in the other. There was just no comparison in my opinion. Should I buy the same old same iOS or go for this beautifully built device. I checked if I could get all of the apps I had on iOS and the answer was yes. I've not regretted it a single bit in fact my girlfriends so jealous of my M8 she now wants to change her 4S for HTC one mini.

Not really. I went from an iPhone 4S to a Nexus 4 and that's what I am rocking right now.

I went from iphone 4 to the Samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket and haven't looked at other companies ( other then the nexus 5 for about a month) with the s3, s4 and note 3 so far. Wouldn't Samsung be the closest thing to apple since the samsung phones have rounded corners :). Build wise the closest thing to an iphone is probably the M7 or M8

Yeah. Design and aesthetics wise HTC wins. Updates? Obviously Google's baby.

Nightmare ??? It's super easy.

I switched to the HTC One M8 from an iPhone 5S, and I had Apple devices my whole life. I am a huge Apple fan, but I love my M8. Its quality is at least on par with the iPhone. My device is perfect.

I too switched from the iPhone 5S and I've had every apple phone.

Zero issues with my m8. No hardware defects and no major software problems that I've noticed.

Plus my sprint model has zero carrier branding on the device. Love it

I switched from a 5s to the m8 and have had zero problems except that Apple hijacked my mobile number. I have had it for two weeks and still can't get texts from anyone using an iPhone. I even turned off I message before I took my SIM out. So beware, Apple is ******* evil.

@ OP: I'm not going to give you anecdotal evidence from my own experience with the M8. What I will say is, in my ten or so years of using smartphones (starting with BlackBerry), the M8 has as few reported issues as about any phone I've seen, read about, or used.

I don't claim to be an "expert", but I spend a LOT of time reading tech blogs and message boards. Usually when there is a significant, repeatable issue, message boards will be littered with thread after thread about the same issue, and tech blogs will regularly report on the issue and what people are doing about it. I'm simply not seeing this with the M8. Yes, there have been a few reports of loose volume rockers, but that's about it as far as I can tell. Yes, many people hate the camera (I don't), but as for build quality or software issues, there just isn't that much evidence to suggest there are recurring problems. Software? Haven't really picked up on anything widespread.

(Disclaimer: Yes, I know there are reports here and there of individual problems. I'm not talking about those, as there will always be isolated issues, even from world class manufacturers.)

they do this to chain people down and attempt to inconvenience them if they ever choose to try a better product like the htc one.

give them a call and ask them to remove your number from imessages. alternatively, if you sold your iphone i read that unregistering it from the apple site might help as well.

I was a diehard iPhone fan for years. I had the 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, and the 5. I had to take all of them back for replacements for one thing or another, except for the 5, which never had a problem.

I'd say give it a whirl. The M8 is awesome. It's certainly the best phone that I've ever used.

I have the Verizon M8. It works extremely well. I do not have a loose volume rocker and my screen is perfect. The phone feels like a tank based on the solid construction.

All phones brands have defective issues on some of their devices. I loved my iPhone 4 when I had it, but I had to have it replaced 3 times under warranty for a defective power button and home button. I understood that it is normal for some phones out of millions made to have a manufacturer defect.

Get the M8 and make sure when you are starting it up at Verizon that you check the volume rocker and stare at the screen. I am certain if there are any issues you can ask for another one to be opened.

This phone is amazing. I highly recommend it.

I had my iPhone 4s for 2 1/2 years and never owned a droid outside of a work phone. I went to the M8 and don't regret it at all...in fact I may never go back to an iPhone (iPad is still my fav though). No build or software issues. If you have Verizon be aware they don't yet support power saving mode, extreme power saving mode or 3G only options.

My battery was very questionable in the beginning but I did a reset of the battery logic thanks to HTC support, I downloaded a great app that lets me go 3G only (phones still super fast) and some other minor tweaks and although I'm not a power user I'm typing this message out now at 27% batterylife and it's been discharging for 36 hours.

I don't hate apple devices that much (I've owned an iPad and Mac) but when I see people switch from iPhone to android, it just makes me happy:)
