HTC one M9 stuck on OPTIMIZING APP after a reboot, why

HTC one M9 stuck on OPTIMIZING APP aftwr a reboot

My one m9 froze so I restarted it. When it rebooted it went straight to optimizing app # of # (SD card).
It has been stuck on this for over an hour now. I can't even turn the phone off. Any ideas from you guys in the know?

Same thing happened to my HTC Butterfly 2 after Marshmallow 6.0.1 update.. I tried wiping cache partition on my phone but i doesn't seems to work, worth a try on your device tho

other than that, you'll have to hard reset it.
