HTC One Mini: I slide the icon but the phone is not answered or declined

on more than one occasions , the phone was ringing .. i slide the green tel icon... but the phone is not answered.. it kept ringin
it also happened some times that the phone was ringing.. i slided to the left the red tel icon.. and the phone kept ringing..

Can it be because i set up a screen lock pattern? maybe there is a conflict?

From the HTC One Mini user manual (p.66)
Answering or rejecting a call
Do one of the following:
? If the display is on when you get a call, tap Answer or Decline.
? If the display is locked when you get a call, drag (green phone icon) or (red phone icon) upwards.
