I have had all these problems that you have described including
-car mode opening at random
-no sound
-charging issues
-apps open in landscape mode

I have found that the landscape mode thing is only an issue on really humid days, has anyone else found this?

All of the problems seem to be able to be fixed with a combination of reboots. If you have these issues don't factory reset because that didn't help me.

I would like to return my phone but it has scratches on the aluminum so I'm stuck with this "one."

Oh and one more thing. If you can't fox the charging issue don't wait till the phone is dead. Just turn it off- that made my light start to blink.

I started seeing this on my HTC One since today morning. When it's on and on charge mode, it gets unusually hot and doesn't charge WELL... Tried different things like rebooting, switching it off and charging while it's off, etc. It does charge when it's off but do not think that's the solution. So will wait for some more time or else going to get it inspected at the service center.

Mine would not charge unless it was completely turned off. Rebooting sometimes fixed this, but usually not. The screen would not auto-rotate. It would jump into car mode, etc. I finally uninstalled an app that "saves my battery". Problem solved! Hope this works for others with similar problems.

My phone stopped charging last week only 2 month old and unless powered off

. Nothing would resolve so sending back to HTC for a service. Hate now

having to wait 5 days for it to be returned. Really miss being ab le to go in store and an immediate review. Love the phone but this was one of my main concerns swapping from apple.

Think I will stick with iPhone for future phones.

What app was it that you uninstalled? It seems like a lot of people (well a lot on this forum) are starting to see this random behavior. Mine started about 2 or 3 days ago and I haven't been able to trace any one thing to be the cause. I'm going to keep an eye on the forum and phone to see if anyone finds a solution before I take the issue to Sprint.

Returned from HTC and now working as normal. Live support advised they just re flashed the software.

Went in to Sprint yesterday and my replacement should be here by Friday. We'll see what happens at that point.

The phone has 4.2.2 on it (I updated few weeks ago when released in UK and my carrier). Received a message that an update available it was the htc pre update patch... If I install this the phone will then can not disable auto rotate. Worked this out after resetting several times and seeing what happens.

Also the phone did not sleep. I installed bbs and its showing that dockobserver partial wakelock constantly running. Can't fund any detail on this when searching google | xda etc

I had to send mine back to htc returned resolved but now has an issue with no being able to disable auto rotate and when making calls the phone auto puts the speaker on.... So it sort of think its docked (no dock sign though)

Boy problems suggest an issue with the USB port to me so a hardware fault.

I sent my back again to htc yesterday.,,,,,, so will let you know in a weeks time if they actually fix it this time!

Hi,

After the battery got completely discharged, my phone started working fine with the wall adapter, but still not recognizable with the laptop. Kepps on connecting disconnecting with the laptop, and after battery got drained till 20% again wall socket not recognizable. I restarted the phone and started working fine with the wall adapter. It looks to me some software bug with HTC one..

Hi! I have thE same problem, but i'm not sure if it's a bug in htc's software or not. I'm running cyanogenmod in it and i stillkeep having the same problem as everyone else.

SOLVED: I?ve had the same problems: phone starts opening apps only in landscape mode, no reaction to charging attempts neither from my ORIGINAL HTC Charge, nor from USB port of my laptop. Charges only if phone switched off or battery completely flat.

I have downloaded battery calibration app from here:

The app clears the batterystats file and all starts working. Follow the instructions and you are sorted!

Just got mine back from repair , 4 week turn around, plugged it in last night, my son woke up around 3am and i noticed the red light was not on, unlocked to see "Cannot charge the device" unplugged it, plugged it back in, reboot, tried all my adapters nothing, factory reset, nothing,. sent it back again. pushing to get it replaced... likely won't happen.

I had the same issue with the sound. Unchecked fastboot, restarted and sound was back.

Nevertheless, this all is a serious software bug that needs to be addresed by HTC. I wonder if 4.2.2. solves this (I still run 4.2.1.).

If you are in att then there is a simple solution
1.Download apex launcher (use that as your main launcher until problem is solved)
2 . while your phone runs apex, go into the apps. Go into car>settings and turn them all off.
Now you can turn off Apex.
3.go into settings>apps>all then delete att drive mode. There is a clash between the 2 car management apps and this foxed all of my issues with the phone.

I am having same issues went through HTC and everything. I am going to T-Mobile tomorrow to see what they say. but I think I can help you with your apps opening in landscape because that's what happened to my phone a few hours BEFORE the charging problems. if you go into your apps you should see one that you didn't download called like "auto screen lock" or something like "auto screen something". I totally forget what the name was and you uninstall and restart your phone. I think it might attach to other applications when downloading. it put my phone back to normal

Got my phone back with a note saying no fault found tested to manufacturing standards blah blah....

Used for literally 2 minutes got the use daydream / tunein radio action randomly....... Auto rotate and speaker phone on calls is switched on..... Get random charger not compatible messages.

If i Mess about with reboot and enable / disable it sort of seems to flip flop through the wont charge issue or will charge but can't switch auto rotate off and have speaker phone. No pattern sometimes sticks with one issue!

I knew this was going to happen as the repair centre just reflash which then fixes temporarily......

Going to call support tomorrow when their uk support is allegedly open..... And going to insist they fix or replace this time.


The experience of this is absolutely awful........ Ad driving me crazy.... As much as I was loving the phone so much missing the apple aftercare.....

Everything with this fault suggests an issue with software/USB socket.


UPDATE ... Somewhere within my constant reboot / fastboot have actually managed it to charge and disable rotate and auto speakerphone.... Either way still being returned as there is something clearly wrong.

Sigh same things here.
two months ago it stopped charging when powered on, was stuck in landscape.

brought it in, dealt with a loaner POS for 2 weeks while it went away. they reflashed it. got it back problem solved.

Now.. well this morning when I plugged it in. it went to landscape, unplug it came back.
than it started going into car mode when I plugged it in.
Now it's not charging when plugged in again. and in and out of car mode.

I'm getting pretty sick of wiping my contacts, gallery and apps.

And don't want to go without for another two weeks.

This is clearly a software glitch, any word from HTC on fixing this?
