If anyone else has had any different experiences, please let me know. Hints and other fix suggestions are welcome! :-)

I'm usually very sensitive to this sort of issue, definitely see it on my nexus 7 (and a nook tablet I have), but after much staring and fiddling I still cannot see it on my HTC One. Either my unit doesn't have it, or it's just too subtle for me to see.

It is subtle for sure. You really have to stare at it. Think some of it is also looking to hard for it...lol like an optical illusion or something.

This is definitely an issue with the auto brightness control. I turned it off, and no matter how low I turned down the brightness, it did not flicker. With it on, it flickered all the time on the lower brightness. I had the same issue with the Nexus 7. I replaced the hardware, and it solved the problem until it updated to GB4.2. This is driving me nuts! I just spent 2 days setting it up. I really don't want to do that all over again...

Agreed. Not sure it warrants exchanging phones. Kind of the nature of HTC's technology for autobrightness. Besides that, it's not super noticeable unless you really move your eyes over white screens and look hard. Just wanted to see if anyone else out there was seeing what I saw or if I was just being a picky old man lol.

I have this same issue. It's very subtle but it's there.

Although, I have tried some of yall's suggestions to stop or help it but nothing works. Power saver on or off it flickers. Brightness high or low it flickers. But one thing I noticed, It only does this using browser apps. Reading on blinkfeed, flipboard, and MaxPC on kindle it doesn't do this. But using the default browser, chrome, and dolphin, it flickers after seconds of inactivity. It's annoying but not worth taking it back. I do have insurance, so if it is a hardware problem and it fails, I will get a new one.

I noticed this today for the first time despite having my phone for a few weeks, in the new Tapatalk beta because it's having issues loading posts and shows white screens for long periods of time. It's very subtle. Kind of reminds me of a fluorescent light, but not as bad.

My new HTC One has a slight flicker. The fact is nearly all LCD screens have a flicker. It isn't to bad and it's worth keeping. There are much worse things that can happen like Dead Pixels and Glue under the glass (Yellow Bands).

HTC Will fix it if it becomes a problem. It isn't a hardware problem as such it's more how the software interacts with it.

My problem sounds similar as I can duplicate it on white screens as well. I keep my brightness lower so I find it a bit easier to notice to be honest. I keep it under 33% - more like ~25% brightness. Here is a ticket I just entered with HTC Support. I'm interested if you guys feel like trying it out and if you get the same results. My ticket detail is below:

Hello - I have been doing some searching on the forums...and everywhere on the infamous screen flickering issues on the HTC One. I have never experienced this with a phone before...I came from a plain iPhone 4 and wanted to give this one a shot because I really really loved what it had to offer.
I am running into the same screen flickering issues that others are having. I have turned off all power management, disabled auto brightness, moved the brightness slider under 25%, over 75%, and so on and so forth. Also not using a screen protector that even comes close to the sensor.
It hasn't helped much at all. What I will tell you I have noticed, is that it seems to have something to do with the proximity sensor. If I cover it with my hand, I no longer experience the issues from my testing so far.
I have uploaded a screenshot - if it doesn't make it through, you can access it here:

The picture is a photo that I took that illustrates the issue. To see what I am talking about, grab an HTC One and put this wallpaper in your gallery and view it in landscape mode to fill the screen.
Hold the HTC One directly in front of you, about a foot from your face in the normal fashion. Now start to face the phone up towards the ceiling instead of at your face (tilt it backwards 90 degrees). Once you start tilting the device and the proximity sensor detects this, you'll notice that the red colors in the flag begin to change colors. It's not an eye trick - it happens and I can maybe catch it on video. For me, it's been easy to reproduce. If I do it rather quickly, the change is noticeable - like an extended flicker that either lightens or darkens the screen - though because of the color contrasts on the red and white, you notice the change and it becomes more than just a subtle annoyance on white pages.
Now, if I do the same test, but cover the proximity sensor (which is completely clean) with my finger, I cannot reproduce the same results as when it is not covered.
Do you guys have any suggestions? I'm hoping that my findings might help you solve this issue in a software update. If there was a way to manually turn off the proximity sensor as a system setting, it would be a pretty clear answer on whether I'm on to something, but I don't think that's an option.
Thanks for any help,
Brian

have any of you guys noticed the flickering on the keypad? while Im using whats app or emailing im focused on the white screen and I can see lights flickering on the keypad but it stops when I concentrate on the keypad area.

I was not using auto brightness, however I had the brightness set at 50% using HD Widget's switch. When I manually lowered the brightness just a bit the flickering disappeared. ???

Have a 1 week old HTC one and have the same flickring issue while using keyboard for whats app and mail

Yes. I've been facing this problem on my HTC One E9+. It's so visible that I had to return it to the service center for repair. I've not yet received the device nor have they contacted me back regarding this. Hope they rectify this. The flicker is more prominent on white background and during scrolling.
