HTC One = Total Fail?

It doesn't matter about the production cost to me but how it feels. I'm not saying Samsung products are bad just lets be honest what do you think is a more premium material. Plastic or aluminum?

My personal honest answer here (looks aside.....the One does look great) is the polycarbonate of the S4 being far more "premium". Like it or not, it is gonna be a lot more durable than aluminum. Guaranteed. Anyone who has owned an iphone will tell you that aluminum construction is a scratch and dent sale waiting to happen.

The only way the One fails is because of HTC's inability to defeat Samsung's marketing.

Durability != Build feel

Why do you choose fail phones? Verizon Nexus? HTC one? Something in the water you drink dude? Seriously?
That said you know I heart you dmmark.

Me thinks people like to complain about anything and everything.
If the S3 is your phone would you uphrade? Why not wait til the One was out for a minute so you could see the complaints or test it before buying.
Again me thinks someone likes to complain.

I always wondered why so many people care about what the phone is made out of or how it looks and then go and put a case on it? Is their a reason? Not trying to start something. I understand people want to protect their investments but why does it matter if the phone is glass/aluminum/plastic if your going to put an otter box or some other case?

I agree with this. So many people commenting about the looks of the HTC One try to take a dig out of Apple and say that there is now a phone that looks better than the iPhone 5 and uses the same materials and is bigger blah blah. Now that you have your One, you have so many bragging rights that your phone is so much better. "Hold on, let me take my case off so I can show you why my phone looks so much better than your iPhone". In the 10-20 seconds it would take for someone to take the case off to show me up, I'd be bored and moving onto other things.

I love Android more than iOS, but you're right. Who cares what materials the phones made of if you're going to use a case.

Yeah the One is pretty but the prettier they are, the more worried I am about scratches, scuffs, dents, falls, and would have that ish wrapped quick. Kind of ruins the fun.

Give me something like the S4, and I'd never worry and would NOT put a case on it.

I'll put a case on it regardless. I've had the Galaxy Nexus. It was a tough phone. Was it invincible? Not even close.

I've read a few reviews on tech sites and a couple are already commenting that the phone case is getting pretty scratched up looking after a few days of being in a pocket that has keys/coins etc or being scraped when slid on a table etc. How many current owners are seeing this? Like has been mentioned before, even if I considered this phone a piece of art (I don't), the first thing I'd do is put a decent case on it. I don't want to deal with paying extra for insurance (not to mention the hassles) just to show off the phone, as if other people you know day to day really care what a phone looks like.
