You must be one of the most annoying "trying to be a clever troll"-posters I have met. Seriously man. You recommended the review mentioned earlier and it was great and it concurred with gsmarena's final thoughts: The diffrences aren't huge between these phones and for most users in the end it comes to couple of deciding factors. Both of them are amazing phones. Stop making such a big fuss about these phones and annoying people.

Both of these phones are amazing. Either one is a great choice. Choosing between them comes down to personal preference and neither choice would be wrong.

If you plan on putting a case on your phone all day, the HTC loses some appeal as the case will take away it's looks and feel advantage. The speakers are probably better on the One. The camera is probably better on the S4 in good light and the One in poor light.

Having said that, Zoe adds some amazing features and I happen to like the smaller picture file size for my needs. I will say the camera on the One is a lot of fun to use and in the first week of having it I have taken more and better pictures with it than 2 years with my previous phone.

Dude, you can't convince people that buy a phone b/c of the way it "looks" or "feels". They are entitled to be shallow and superficial. It's like buying cars. What looks good doesn't always mean it runs good, is reliable and has the most bang for the buck. Or said differently, having a trophy wife with all sorts of issues that make you crazy and wish you had picked a solid 7.5 instead of a 10.

People that I trust and have used production versions of both (not prerelease hardware/software that others are using) have told me what they think. ;-) I'll trust what they say and keep the ONE.

Baised how? U do realise the s4 is actually better than the HTC one....all I hear about the one is its look and boom sound and that's the end of its praise... Samsung is gonna put the kids to bed in about 24-48 hours when s4s begin to Get in consumers hands and all the praise will flood this site, blogs etc...HTC got its shine do to being out first that's it....

HTC One has a solid hardware, S4 has software features, which will be available on HTC one eventually as soon as software developers get their hands on the S4. Last year Smart Stay etc were very "Cool" features of S3, I had them on my EVO LTE (One X) a month later in form of ported apps, and worked flawlessly. There are thousands of Software developers, I haven't seen many hardware developers yet. You will get S4 software gimmicks on HTC one, but how are you going to have S4 Screen not turn black on you in direct sunlight even at 100% brightness. You wouldn't be acting like a troll in HTC One forums if you weren't insecure about you S4 purchase...lol

Where did u see the HTC one has better low light pics? Every review I've seen had s4 winning...but I understand ur point now...like u said its about what's better for u end of the day... I can't argue with that...those features on the s4 I can't knock because I might just use them so I can't say they're gimmicks..

I agree.Those features aren't gimmicks because there are gonna be many who will make use of them.

Sorry. I was following the HTC One before the reviews for the S4 got out, and saw that it performs better than anything else (in low light) out there. Reading the gsmarena comparison now, it seems that the S4 does produce much better pics than the One especially in daylight, but it takes several attempts to get one good pic in low light. Anyway, the features I mentioned in my previous posts were only some of the reasons I chose the One over the S4, but I can see how the S4 will appeal more to most.

I don't care whom you're talking about, but just because the 'feel' or 'looks' of a phone are one of the factors in someone's phone choices doesn't make them shallow or superficial. Your other posts seem well thought out, and well written, but IMHO this post was just unnecessary. Anyway, cheers

Other than a few markets, don't the S4 and One share the same processor? Clock speed is silly if it's the same thing, IMO.

Same processor, but the S4 is overclocked to 1900 where the One uses 1700. That is why the S4 out benchmarks the One.

Meh, I prefer this display tech. Of course, that's without seeing an S4 in person. But going from the Galaxy Nexus and its Super AMOLED to this is like upgrading from standard definition + rabbit ears to a 60 inch 4K TV with Bluray.

Agreed. On some of them they were clearly tied. Just because the reviewer prefer larger screen size it doesn't mean that it's better.

I didn't have to wait to see the Samsung in person before buying the "best"One. Front speakers,Beats audio,Zoe. Samsung has their air gesture,eye scrolling etc. People that are going to use all the Samsung "gimmicks" don't want the HTC "gimmicks". I personally will make better use out of the HTC "gimmicks" then the Samsung's. Also I love the "superficial looks" of the One.

It was biased. This will be a tie, yet crap that doesn't matter, Sammy gets the win. Yes the Sammy benchmarked slightly higher, but who would notice the difference in real world use. Of course you could overclock the One. He also states that even though you might not use the extra features, they are nice to have. I am not going to use them, why the hell should I pay for them ?

The whole "battery life favors the S4" because of the swappable battery thing is bollocks. Battery life should be measure by how it actually performs day in day out with daily usage NOT because of swappability. Sealed vs replaceable is a personal taste having nothing to do with battery life.

Yes, because of the dozen or so phones I've had that had replaceable batteries, I've bought a grand total of zero spare batteries.

Do you all really need someone to tell you which phone to buy? Why can't you make up your own mind and buy whatever you like? Here's an idea, stop reading reviews. Stop reading Phil's, Jerry's, and this guy's thoughts, stop being spoon fed information, and go draw some conclusions on your own.

There is absolutely no way in hell I could let anyone else's thoughts factor into what I do my money, without me having first tried out said product. If you do that and aren't happy with your purchase then you deserve the crap you're stuck with.

Sammy makes good phones. Not going to lie. HOWEVER, their new "features" are lame as hell. S Health? What... That double camera thing is retarded. I want my head floating on a picture? NO I DONT lmao. HTC added the goods to their phone. Everything is used daily aka loud speakers, Zoe, blinkfeed. Plus the built is amazing. I was waiting for an Android to be better built than an iPhone and the day is now! GS4 will still outsell it which is upsetting because HTC has a damn winner here. This phone is perfect

Crowdsourcing information is a decent way of determining commonalities. While it's not the most scientific or foolproof, it does have benefit IMHO.

Nothing beats first hand experience. Nothing. I use connections to try out phones and even go out to a retailer and try display phones to make a decision. Obviously most people don't have links but what is available are display models in their local retailers. Anytime someone asks me about a phone if they already don't sound like they're leaning a certain way, I'll tell them to go to their retailers and get some hands on time with both phones and make a list of pros and cons. Go back and try each phone multiple times until you feel like the lists are complete and buy whichever one suits you. If this were to happen then there'd be no bickering because everyone would be satisfied with their purchases. Instead what you get is a bunch of people who buy products just from the first good review they see and don't give ample time to inquire about something else they may like.

The fact of the matter is these people are waiting on Android Central and other sites like it to either make them or break them when it comes to these two phones, and you all know this. I also know that feel of power to come from this acknowledgement. To either say the HTC One is the better phone and feel better about the purchase or dump the One and get the S4, then minutes later watch the fanboys of either side celebrate or cry. It's funny and it's sad. We can call Apple people "sheep", yet can't such make a simple decision as a buying a phone on our own. You're a former moderator and advisor and so you're probably in with the higher ups or know them. I have no affiliations on this particular site so I just don't care.

I'm a strong proponent of making up your own mind. Strong. I chose the One because it fit what I wanted, and because folks who I trust, and who think similarly to me, had a multitude of great things to say about it.

Unfortunately, life doesn't always present an opportunity to collect first hand information. Sometimes you must trust others. To disregard that, and that's what I take from your comments (so correct me if I'm wrong), would be silly IMHO. You should use all sources available to you, then make up your mind.

And as a personal note, I'm friendly with several folks here. Not all share my interests, such as my ardent passion for the Nexus and AOSP. My friends here are not "ins," nor do I represent any AC opinion. I'm my own man and wish to be treated as such. I don't get paid by AC, HTC, whatever. I wish, because I'd be making bank, but alas .
