HTC One - What's happening about the "speaker blown" problem?

Re: What's happening about the "speaker blown" problem?

I've got an m8 and the bottom speaker is blown. It definately sounds like a physical problem and not software. Sometimes in a semi-noisey environment I would miss calls because I couldn't hear the ringer.

I have it htc one for 8 mo. so far t-mobile sent me my 4th one with the very same problem SPEAKERS ARE BLOWN always lover speaker is going out if that is not a huge problem i don't know what to think
one for sure never htc again for me ,feels like i just wasted $700

I've been having this problem very recently. Had my first HTC One since late October. Two days before New Years my top speaker "blew" for no apparent reason. Just a loud crackle sounds coming out of the phone speaker during calls or playing any type of sounds (Music, gps directions, etc.) Turning off Beats made the sounds worse (so likely hardware?). I sent my phone to Verizon for an exchange for a referb. Got the replacement phone this Monday, and this evening (2 days later) I'm presented with the exact same problem!

I'm rather clueless what would be causing this. I work in a rather dust-less environment and speakers are mostly used for GPS / speakerphone on occasion. I've never had to replace a phone due to a defect for the past 10 years. Having 2 defects in under a month is quite frustrating and doesn't give me much confidence in HTC if this has been a known problem.

I really want to love this phone, but the past posts on this thread is giving me more reason to jump ship to the Galaxy S4 while I still can. Would that be over-reacting and should I give HTC referb another chance? (3 times the charm?)

Fairly similar scenario that I have had on O2 in the UK. Always look after my phones - this is the first phone that I have had that has been faulty.

1st handset started to develop crackly top speaker after 5 months and eventually both speakers completely failed after 7 months. I didnt want to send the phone off straight away for repair as I thought the bottom will follow which it did. I was sent a new/refurb handset within 3 days which looked brand new, not a blemish in sight, which is great service. But again 5 months later the top speaker started to crackle and now has completely gone, lower speaker has started to crackle now so exactly the same issue. Provider O2 will not let me change to equivalent phone from another brand.

I listened to a bit of music with the 1st handset but never at full volume. I didn't even listed to music on the 2nd handset as never got round to loading all music back on and didn't want the same thing to happen but it did anyway. Its so much hassle to reload all music, images, apps etc some of which do not load all data automatically.

This is my 3rd HTC and never had a single problem with them until the One M7. I'm afraid to say it but I wont be getting another HTC when I re-new my contract. I wonder how many One m7's I will get through after 24 months, im on target for 4 at the moment...... I'm off elsewhere which is a shame as nothing else floats my boat.
