HTC One X and Evo 4G LTE indefinitely delayed at US Customs for i

Sprint has to pay $20 for both FedEx and UPS for weekend deliveries and even though we think they should, they probably won't. They might start the shipping process though or wait for Monday and that's only if the meetings have started.

I know it's been reported that HTC is supposed to be getting a hearing this week, but does anyone know if it's actually been scheduled and if so, when that is?

Re: HTC One X and Evo 4G LTE indefinitely delayed at US Customs f

I hope for some reason after hearing good news this morning that this device would get shipped by tonight... i know its only a dream but it can happen LoL

Has anyone heard anything about when the hearing/inspection is?

The patent was filed in 1996, which may have been before this feature ("data tapping") became so common. The key here is in the line "a user interface enabling the selection of a detected structure and a linked action". Although urls were commonly interpreted as data structures that should cause a new page to open after being selected, I'm not so sure that it was common that a user interface popped up asking the user to select which action they wanted to have be performed.

If anyone can find some evidence of this action being performed prior to 1996, HTC would be eternally grateful, and we might get our phones faster.

Um didn't windows 95 do this... Say you had windows media player and real player installed it would ask you which you would like to use.... Crazy that Apple has all these patents which if anyones should be Microsoft's... But @ this age in tech it really should not be anyones...

You don't understand the nature of these types of patents. A key part of the patent, and one that separates it from any prior art, is the user prompt for interaction coupled with the data tools. It doesn't matter if what you described existed before 1996, because it is different than what apples patent is for.

It's a trivial matter to make the link go to an intermediary page after finding text patterns that match email addresses, and ask the user if they want to (a) add the email address to their address book/contacts, (b) search for previous messages to/from the email address, or (c) compose a new message with the email address as the recipient, or any other number of possible options.

I'm not a patent lawyer, but from a layman's perspective, such functionality seems pretty obvious to me, if we're talking about the landscape of an email system, and should not be patent-able.

But the thing is, it is patentable. And its validity has been tested with the rulings.

This is why the system is screwed.

That's what I mean. Our patent system is completely worthless.

I'm hating Apple right about now!!! There is a reason I wanted an EVO over an iphone, so free the EVO's...lololol

I read something about it saying the hearing would be sometime August. Judge says no more suing and start a settlement.

This whole situation is just sloppy

Re: HTC One X and Evo 4G LTE indefinitely delayed at US Customs f

I went to my local Sprint Store & put my name on the waiting list. They say maybe next week. But not for sure.

Re: HTC One X and Evo 4G LTE indefinitely delayed at US Customs f

Just swung by my local Sprint store to make sure there weren't any sitting there in stock.

Interestingly enough, I swung by AT&T as well and was told they've even had their One X stock replenished. Go figure.

That's what I don't get! Ship out the pre-orders if they're sitting there and free to go!

re?plen?ish/riˈpleniSH/
Verb:
Fill (something) up again.
Restore (a stock or supply of something) to the former level or condition.

So they said that they had to restock their One X? yet the Evo is no where to be seen? WTF?

Re: HTC One X and Evo 4G LTE indefinitely delayed at US Customs f

Interestingly when I was at BB yesterday, I asked about accessories and they told me that "everything" was already in and out back.

I asked what "everything" meant as in did he mean various accessories and the sales person (this is a hardcore really knows what he's talking about person and not a typical salesperson) smiled and again said "everything".

I have no clue if that's reality or not but that's what I was told.

Re: HTC One X and Evo 4G LTE indefinitely delayed at US Customs f

Do the consumers who have pre ordered their HTC EVO 4G LTE have any grounds at a class action lawsuit against any of the companies? We aren't trying to get ant compensation from the companies, we're just sick of these bull patent lawsuits that the consumers could give a about. We just want a good product, I mean who really cares about some hyperlinks?
