When I plug my new HTC One X+ into my Win7 PC via USB, the usual response is that a CD drive appears under "Computer" with the name "HTC Sync Manager". If I open that, it appears to be an actual installation CD for the HTC Sync Manager. Virtually every time, no other entry appears under "Computer" ... unless I reboot the phone while it is attached via USB. In that case, "HTC One X+" appears under "Portable Devices" in addition to the above mentioned CD mount.
Why is that CD mount happening? Does the device actually contain that Sync Manager software, which it somehow mounts as a CD? Is there any way to permanently stop that from happening? The HTC Sync Manager is useless for my purposes - I want only to sync the songs in a certain iTunes playlist, but the sync manager can only be pointed to a list of directories for syncing - I use iSyncr for that.
Worse still, it is only through the use of the "HTC One X+" portable device that I can access the device's internal storage to copy files, so if it doesn't show up, it isn't possible to do that. Even worse than that, if "HTC One X+" shows up, file copies to the device hang, and then the only recourse is to reboot the phone.
The above mess leaves aside the fact that it took dozens of attempts to get all the device drivers to install.
Has anybody else experienced this? If so, is there a fix/work-around?
