I know that someone was able to port this over to the Droid awhile back, I saw a couple threads and articles on it however each time the article/thread ended up being to a thread or page that had been deleted. Does anyone have any current information on getting HTC Sense on the Motorola Droid?

Additionally how would this effect rooting the device and putting a 2.2 rom on it?

i know that i think it was zuesdroid www.zuesdroid.org had ported sense over but you couldn't make calls or recieve calls (not sure which) over 3g you had to be on wifi so it never caught on and now with 2.2 i think that they have stopped work on it, not 100% sure though. I would love to try out sense i was looking for the rom to try before i got 2.2
Oh and if anyone has a link to download the rom i would like to try it out

It's Zeus Droid :p
A lot of drama went down where they had all their files hosted and so yea, I'm not sure if they have continued working on it or what.

ah well sucks that there is/was drama, htc sense is really a beautiful UI, but when i saw i could get the droid for 1/10th the price and not have to wait on the backorders i went with that over the incredible. hopefully things will get ironed out or a good alternative will take hold.

edit:
guess thats the catch 22 of android in general, more openess means more variations (motoblur, vanilla, sense) but it also means it is not only more difficult for those to each get updated like 2.2 has been but to get those alternative UIs on any other phone. still I am excited to be starting out as an android user tomorrow :)

Just wondering what do you find appealing about Sense. Reason I'm asking is there are a lot of options for modifying the Android OS to make it do exactly what you want.

Ya as everybody has mentioned, it was attempted but turned into a bomb. I think they gave up especially since froyo is already coming out soon.

One thing you can add to give you a little bit of the sense experience is downloading launcher pro from the market. Its really nice and it has the pinch to zoom out for the home screens.

Well that is one feature down hehe.

I like the general look and feel it seems to have, the clock/weather deal. the pinch to zoom that was mentioned above as well. Friend Stream would be useful for me. So I'd say mostly the home screen, pinch to zoom, friend stream and the clock.

Also try an app called live bookmarks. Its the closest thing to sense's bookmark widget.

Never understood why people raved so much about Sense. Maybe it's the launcher and speed compared to stock? Anyone could add a launcher on top of stock and make it better.

Home Screens - Either ADW.Launcher or LauncherPro Beta both are free but I prefer ADW for its high level of customization. Both also do the zoom out homescreens.

Clock widgets - Beautiful Widgets $1.85 from the market.

Finally about friend stream I haven't seen anything online but was able to find this on another forum site. It is the LG Socialite app. Hope these links help!

so far i REALLY like socialite wish it had a widget though! is there an app like this that has a widget?

To my knowledge Socialite should. I tried it out for a few days just didn't use it enough to keep it. The version I downloaded had a full screen widget.

I agree. I don't see why people like it as much as they do at this point. There are only 2 features from 2.1 sense that I really like, 1 out of those we have an alternative that does it now. 1) I like their functional Widgets where you can scroll up and down or choose contacts. 2) the pinch to zoom out on the home screen to view all of your screens. Now we have launcher pro from the maker that does that so 1 down and 1 to go

And to the person looking for htc's keyboard. Keep in mind it doesn't have multi touch. If you google HTC keyboard apk for droid, you should be able to find it. I can't remember the websites off the top of my head.

thanks for all the help so far. the last two things im looking for are to edit the notification bar to match, and the dock at the bottom, then i'll be set. any suggestions there?

your best bet is metamorph for those 2 things or a theme for the rom you are using. aside from that there really isn't any other way
