HTC Shooter Emerges = EVO 3D? Gingerbread-based Dual-Core

Sprint shows off this awesome phone next week, while Verizon customers get the Thunderbolt this week. Yup. Good catch Sprint. Props for trying to stay up there.

This is really discouraging for me. I have a AT&T N1 and planned on jumping to my family's Verizon plan within the next week on the Thunderbolt... now Sprint gets this? Hard to believe Verizon is this far behind.

Sprint may announce it next week, but there is no indication as to when it could be released. More than likely it will be sometime in June, when the original Evo was launched. By that time Verizon will probably have the Bionic ready for launch.

Remember, the TBolt was announced at CES... 2 months ago.

Point is, with Android there is always something better on the horizon.

another thing to think about is the fact that you phone bill with sprint will be a LOOOOOT cheaper!!!

I was on AT$T and save almost $100 a MONTH by switching to sprint.

Thunderbolt=slightly upgraded Evo (also, i was saw some people tweeting the fact that you CANNOT turn off LTE data on this device.. could be a HUGE battery sucker and the reason they have taken SO long to release!!)

Shooter/evo3d= Dual core, 3d a TRUE upgrade to an already AMAZING device

my 2 cents

im so glad to see that sprint is putting out next-gen hardware, now lets just get these gingerbread updates rolling.

All I know is I'm excited. I'm interested to see the specs for the possible Nexus 4g they are said to be announcing although I couldn't see them being better than this. Ill more than likely be gettin this.

That would be perfect... - a nice comparison I might add. My update kicks in around that time anyway.

What is the deal with the OS? Did anyone else see the 2.3.3?

2.3.3 is the most recent update to Android's OS. I am running CM7 and it has the base build 2.3.3 as well. This is good to know though because If this device is released soon then you know you will have a the most recent build.

i got the evo right now rooted runing mikfroyo 4.5 and i love it so you know im getting this when it comes out. plus i can upgrade in june since i am a premirer customer!!! by the way im playing with the thunder bolt as i type this lol.

thunderbolt isnt even out till tomorrow, where did you get that, pnut?

Anyways, that it was 2.3.2 jumped out at me too but I'm really not concerned than an unreleased phone is only one build behind. Ive been predicting an evo refresh at CTIA and thats all but certain now. It was released last year on June 4th so I'd expect roughly the same time for the new one.

A lot of people had purchased a palm pre a bit less than one year before the evo and Sprint worked with them to move up their upgrade eligibility by the few days because the pre launched on like June 7th or 8th, so werent immediately eligible on the 4th. So its good to know they'll likely help us out if its before June 4th.

The Evo was the first true 'superphone' that set the bar for phones that wasnt topped till the Atrix last month. I am really hoping Evo2 has specs that put it clearly ahead like the first one did. 1.5ghz dualcore and a great screen. If you've looked at the thunderbolt specs, its only a TFT LCD screen like the first evo and it frankly is totally lackluster. If it just had a 1.2ghz like the thunderbolt, I'll be pretty disappointed.

something to think about it:

qualcomm supplies could potentially get squeezed by the earthquake fallout. Listening to buzz out loud, they are saying theres some sort of epoxy that the chipsets need which could be in short supply.

Also there are potential shortages on everything from flash memory and screens because so much of it is produced in that region. In particular, screens were already in short supply (which is why you arent seeing samoled screens on anything but samsung phones) so that has potential for great suckage on upcoming phones.
