So I have HTC Sync Manager latest release and it freezes all the time on me. When I press the sync button, it annoyingly stays at "Sync 1% and won't progress at all... (see attached image)

If I press the cancel (X) button on the program, the program just freezes completely.:mad::mad:

I can't sync my Address Book properly like this, and even moreso my podcasts and other music (for the podcasts and music, I use succesfully Android File Transfer though... When I use HTC Sync Manager, I uninstall Adroid File Transfer to be sure it's not that program interfering with HTC Sync Manager)

Any ideas on what to try?:p

I am running OS X 10.6.8

thanks

also, I do have "USB debugging" and "allow mock locations" checked on under the dev options menu

I would recommend NOT using Sync Manager on a Mac. I have one too and the Mac is no slouch but every time I use Sync it freezes. If you can get away without Sync then that is the way to go.

I use it, it's not that bad. Sometimes I have to unplug it, then plug it back in to get it to work. I wish there was a better syncing solution though. I would jump ship from HTC sync manager in a heartbeat.

Well that sucks balls....how would I sync w address book program on the mac properly then?

I'm miffed and peeved at the same damn time. No matter how many times I plug unplug, do the chicken dance or Macarena, it's the same failure to sync.

I have Airdroid too but no other app that I currently know of can address the Adress Book part of my concerns.... And it's a very important one to me

The easiest way to sync the address book is to set up gmail and have that sync with your mac and then use gmail on your One. Alternatively you can export the data and import it into gmail, that works just as well, also for calendar.

One of the worst desktop/mobile apps.

Use ANDROID FILE TRANSFER or AIRDROID2 instead.

HI, I am stuck was wondering if you know, i am trying to unlock my boot loader, but i cant get into the fastboot bootlader program in my command prompt window, i really need help

Question are you using your HTC Contacts with Google? Because you can sync your address book on a Mac with Google Contacts.

I am trying Android File Transfer atm..
I was just wondering how you sync your music? Do you drag every song in the map mobile>music>users>... ? Or is there a automatic sync way thing?

Since I have used HTC Sync Manager (the auto upload function from iTunes) it has my iTunes media map in that.. So no lose .mp3 files, al embedded in
maps with the artist name. Should I re-enter all my music or will it automaticly update everytime I sync? since I am syncing the iTunes media map where
my new music goes into..?

I use iSyncr App from the Play Store to sync my music to my HTC One, one click sync from iTunes.

For people with issues with contacts transfer, I use SmoothSync for Contacts which still allows my contacts to sync with iCloud and the same for Calendars.

Hi there,

I'm wondering if any of you can help me. I've decided to jump from iphone to an htc one... I've used iphones for 6 years, but just fancied something different. But from the moment I got the phone I have been having problems. First of all I couldn't get my emails set up through it...... phoned htc, 1 and 1 and trawled through threads (still wouldn't work!) then one day this week it just started working like that).... Weird I know, but that's not the main problem I have installed htc sync manager and cannot get it to find my phone..... I have tried everything..... and I mean everything..... I have installed, unistalled,, usb debugging options, done the msconfig thingy, I have even had the htc guys on the phone remotely using my laptop and they couldn't get it to work either (told me it was probably the lead I got with the phone) tried a diff one and still nout.... I understand that I can just plug it in and put music on it through a folder option, but this is really bugging me now.... When I plug the phone in htc sync manager opens an all, but doesn't see the phone which I find weird as why does it open then. is there anyone out there that has any idea at all?? before I throw the head up and go back to my iphone as I really am fed up trying to work this phone out and it's issues!! Ps I have also tried the older version and also tried disabling my virus software... Really frustrated htc one user....

I have the same problem with OSX and HTC all their info refers to Windows versions, but I am led to believe that there are sync tools for OSX that work, I am not a hugh fan of Itunes anyway so not a problem for me if it does not integrate, I will let you know how I get on;)

Hi everyone
I'm from the UK. I have recently got an HTC ONE after 3 years of being an iphone user. I'm not sure if the UK versions differ from the U.S version......Here's the problem or problems. In the grouped apps under media, there are 2 music apps. Play music and music. I downloaded a song from the play store and I want to set it as a ringtone...However, the song went to the play music app which doesn't allow you to set the song as a ringtone. This can only be done in the music app. Any suggestions on how to move the song to music app or another way to set it as a ringtone?.......Also sync manager doesn't work on my PC and Windows media player doesn't recognise the phone either. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

For the benefit of those arriving here looking for an answer:
Had exactly these problems and spent a lot of time resolving them. Sync Manager WILL run on OSX (have just got this to work under Mavericks) but has been built by a junior development team I suspect. It's major problem is down to one thing: Case Sensitivity.

****** The app has been built to run from a case insensitive file system. It also expects your content to be stored on a case insensitive file system. *****

You can fix this but it involves a few steps. The exact set of steps you need to take depend on how your file systems are configured.

If the app wont start:
Check the file system your /Applications folder is on. That's normally your boot drive. To check, select your computer in the left bar of Finder. Select the boot drive in the right side of Finder with a single click. Then use <Apple - I> to display the information about the volume. If it includes "...Case Sensitive..." in the Format section then keep following this section. If not, move to the next.
So, Assuming it's case sensitive, you need to open Terminal to do the following patch. If you're not sure about this reply back and I'll try to help. If you screw the app up, just re-install (after all it doesnt work, right ?)

$> cd /Applications/HTC\ Sync\ Manager.app/Contents
(Note: The application has been built with the info.plist in lower case, but the app needs Info.plist to be able to load)
Either:
$> sudo ln -s info.plist Info.plist
Or:
$> sudo mv info.plist Info.plist

Now try starting the app. It should now run ...

The App hangs on a Sync:
I found that for me, the reason was that my content was also stored on a case Sensitive File system; that is, my Music and Pictures folders were both on the same case sensitive file system as the app. After getting the app to start it went looking for iTunes and loaded the media lists from iTunes and iPhoto.
However when you try to sync (or select media within the app), the app tries to look for the files it wont find them (it converts all file paths it gets from iTunes and iPhoto into lower case) which possibly dont match what's on the file system and get's into some strange state while looking.

To solve this:
You need to move the Pictures and Music folder to a case insensitive file system. If you have spare partitions that are case insensitve and are big enough, that's ideal.
If you dont have a spare case insensitive partition/drive you can move on to, there isnt an easy solution for you unfortunately. You can put a new bigger drive in, create a new case insensitive partition etc, but detailed instructions are beyond the scope of this simple reply.
If you do have a suitable file system you can move on to, you still need to get your files there. Only way I know of to move between the two is to do a backup using CCC and then use CCC to restore to the new target file system. Finder will just barf on the copy which isnt ideal. CCC will deal with the switch of case, but note that you could loose files if you have the same filename in the same directory in different cases. For me, that meant I lost a couple of music tracks like: "take it to the river.mp3" which clashed with "Take it to the River.mp3" I got the last one which overwrote the first. In any case they were duplicates for me.
Once you've moved it to the new file system, you need to link back into your home directory again for everything like iTunes to work etc.
So, in Terminal once again:
$> cd $HOME
$> sudo mv Music Music.old
$> sudo ln -s <Put the path to you new stuff here> ./Music

Do the same for the Pictures folder.

Restart Sync Manager and all should now work.

Note that although I've tried to be as complete as possible, and the stuff above worked for me, the risks are yours. If you dont feel comfortable following these steps, I'd suggest emailing HTC support and asking them to get their junior developer to fix the app to support case sensitive file systems !

Hope this helps someone !

I had the sync issue on a case insensitive file system, I found out that clearing data in the HTC sync app (in the phone) would solve the problem, seems that after updating the mac app it may not be able to connect properly with the phone app without clearing data there.
