I noticed this as well yet I am confused, if you go to Sprint - Software Downloads - Smartphones - HTC Hero? with Google? you will see that the version is 2.0.5 which if I remember correctly is higher than the 2.0.33 posted on the HTC website.

That looks like a misprint on Sprints side. Their link takes you to the same place my link does. Nice catch tho.

does this actually update android on the phone to 2.0, or is this just the version id for the sense UI riding on top of android?

nevermind.. that was a dumb question.. I see it is just the sync application.. Gosh.. it is early.. sorry for that...
