I just purchased a TB and need to sync with Outlook and found "HTC SYNC 3.0.5579 FOR HTC THUNDERBOLT? (VERIZON) | 09.27.2011". I have seen many posts about syncing with Outlook but no one seems to talk about the HTC app, does it work okay? What problems have you had when you tried it?

I have been using it for about 6 months and it is fine. no issues at all syncs contacts, and calender etc. The way to go.

Mine worked once and then stopped. I can't get it to work again for love or money. I gave up and transferred all my contacts to Gmail and went from there.

My 3.0.5511 stopped working when I flashed my phone to 605.5, so I installed sync 5579. Still didn't work, so I uninstalled htc sync and drivers on my computer entirely and re-installed. I may have rebooted my phone after that, and now all is well.

Exactly. HTC Sync is a tad finicky about installation. But if you install the drivers, package and the whole shebang all at once, it should work fine. When in doubt, uninstall and reinstall -- drivers and program. Mine's been working for months and months. But I also once had this finicky operation before re-installation.

Worthy of Note: If you plan on using the "Revolutionary" root method, HTC Sync has to be uninstalled before rooting.

I just bought my first Android three weeks ago after 15 years of Blackberry use. After a week I gave up on the Android and went back to my BB. I decided to give it a shot again - slow week at the office. I set it up this time without going through it too quickly and it works fine. Android is kind of quirky but it can work. My critical needs are contact management, calendaring, and syncing with my pc. I downloaded Deja Office to work with ACT but that's a pain. Doesn't work for squat. I use ACT for contact management and grouping and task management. I love Outlook's calendar and with Companionlink I can sync ACT to Outlook easily and then use HTC Sync to my Android. Easy so far but I'm sure glitches will arise. Part of the world we live in.

I don't use Outlook much anymore, but when I did, I used https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gappssync to sync.....AWESOME program!

Or use this one....I have used this many times and WORKS FLAWLESSLY http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=89955

Everytime that I plug in my USB cable to my TB I get a pop up about installing TL-Bootstrap.exe and no matter what I do it pops up evertime I connect the cable since I installed HTC Sync.

Is anyone else getting the message and have they solved the issue to stop the pop up.

I think once you start thinking in the Android mode and teach yourself to forget Blackberry mode of doing things you will be fine. It is very different. Like learning to drive a 5speed after years of driving an automatic. Just tales tube and a little patience. Its awesome. I love it

And the Thunder rolls!

I use HTC Sync for my Outlook contacts and calender. I have been using it for months without a problem.

If you're not rooted, you have to live with it. If you're rooted, you can go into the /etc folder and remove the cdrom.iso file.
