Yea that screwed this one up big time. Isn't the charging port on the bottom of pretty much EVERY phone except this one? Probably not but still it took some real talent to put it where it is now.
And this is one of only TWO phones i'm aware of with a kickstand... I want to go check if Evo has a plug in left side too.
If I'm correct you can put the EVO verticaly on the kickstand. So for video calls you can't stand it up and keep it charging.
My point is pros and cons for both.
maybe thats becouse it doesn't use mini USB it uses Micro USB as almost all phones nowadays mini USB was replaced by Micro USB about 2 years ago maybe a lil longer
I gotta admit , As much as i like the ThunderBolt this pretty missed up by HTC (or as some people say : FAIL) , I guess they didn't notice that when they gave it a Go to production !

I wish videos could be displayed in upside down landscape position.... just like the way browser reorients.

Ok If the TB native browser is similar to the EVO? Don't know, they haven't released the phone yet, but it's probably the standard HTC Browser, so yes.
The only video I could watch in reverse landscape(turning the evo clockwise) mode was Youtube.
However, with the Youtube android app?videos were only displayed in regular landscape view.
When I tried playing videos from CNN and ESPN?
The pages could be viewed in reverse landscape, however, once the video started it went(180 degree turn) right to regular landscape view.
FWIW, Sprint TV could only be viewed in regular landscape mode.
Is it a good location? No.
But for me I really don't touch my phone when it is charging and I'm not big on multimedia on my phone currently. Really it is what it is. As long as the port doesnt break, it's a success to me.
I wouldn't want to watch a video in vertical.
lol...again, many of the other threads claim VZW designed the phone...That would make it a VZW fail...just like the launch.x2
Definitely sounds like an epic fail on HTC's part.
I wouldn't want to watch a video in vertical. It would be tiny since vids are shot for widescreen. FWIW, Sprint TV now has full episodes of programs. I was watching The Office at work last night because we lost Dish for some reason or other. I probably watched 6+ hours of stuff last night. I wonder how much data that was, and how much it would cost on tiered...
6 hours of streaming video?.
Well... if we use youtube as an example?
I've read that a standard youtube video stream is about 4-5 MB a minute give or take?
so for a low ball estimate?
4MBx60min = 240MB an hour
so 6 HR's times 240MB = 1440MB or 1.44GB
wow!
That could cost you some dough at the end of the month if you were on a
tiered plan at that rate(est 45GB).
Yea, I don't know what Sprint TV uses for data on their TV service...I used 27GB last month on my phone...that would have made the VZW accountants drool. I love Sprint.

You my friend must be sleeping with your Evo too?
Dang Fatal!
I pretty much surf the net as much as I can, watch videos, video chat,
pandora, sprint TV and I only used slightly over 11 GB's last month.
The second month after I got the Evo I did reach 15GB.
And I though I was a data whore?
You my friend must be sleeping with your Evo too?
I just hope Sprint doesn't implement a tiered system?
Spending 130.00 dollars a month for unlimited everything for 2 Evo's getting pricey!
my way to solve the problem will be to stand it up vertically and charge.
