HTC Thunderbolt Vs. iPhone 4

I'm preordering the iphone4 for my wife today and will play with it to decide if I like it or not. Their are alot of things I love about Android like the ability to root my phone to install themes and custom roms, the wide availability of keyboards, the ability to customize my phone all which are missing from the iphone. But the iphone has a great camera great keyboard and huge app store with the ability for me and my wife to share apps. All which are great I believe the deciding factor will be lte and size of the iphones screen 3.5 just seems a tad small for me

Say it isn't so. Are you really thinking about going over to the dark side? Dude, you know your next Android phone will be sick and customizable. Don't let one bad apple (moto D2) leave a bad taste in your mouth and make you walk away from Android. If you get an HTC phone that you can root, I am sure you will feel like your back with your long lost friend OG Droid haha.

Don't get me wrong, as much as it pains me to say this but the iPhone is a solid device with a very smooth and stable OS.

Bizz, if I get the TB (not a def. yet but if the 4g data package is reasonable then I am, just gotta sell my DInc) and you decide to get an iPhone, there are going to be problems

No its bolt for me while I like the iphone i can't leave android ill get an htc device and most likely stick. With Them just know if won't buy another motorola product

Biz, never say never. If Motorola wised up and went back to the way they were when they released the Droid, that device would be money. I am still waiting for an updated 4.3 in. Droid with updated specs (dual core, etc...) and slide out qwerty keyboard. Man, were we wrong about what the Droid Pro was going to be/look like haha.

Ok won't say never but highly unlikely at this point give me an iphone over any of their offerings and that includes the atrix/bionic unless they unlock the bootloader (highly unlikely)

iPhone has much better quality and variation in apps. Better construction, better customer service and support. The retina display goes a long way to mitigating the 3.5 inch screen. The Apple ecosystem is also much better. But I still like the big 4.3 inch screens. Android is fun to tinker with. It's not really open source by the common definitions of that term though and what is open source about it is really more of a benefit to the carriers and handset manufacturers than users. You will and are seeing Google, the carriers, and manufacturers locking down Android more and more now that they have a critical mass of users. None of them want a truly open platform. Your average person who just wants things to work will be happier with an iPhone which is why Verizon was so desperate to get it. Android really hasn't panned out for them. Amusing to see Verizon switching their marketing to the iPhone after telling everyone how Android was so much better with their juvenile commercials aimed at the typical teenage boy Android fan.
Anyway I'm getting a Thunderbolt since I prefer HTC over Moto. Not least because I used to work at Moto as an IT Architect and I know what a mess they are in so many ways.
If in doubt get an iPhone.

I think iphones are fantastic in terms of build quality, but i prefer the TB unibody aluminum to the iphones glass. I would have gotten an iphone if it wasn't for the TB. I don't want the Bionic. I think it looks cheap. The camera looks awful, and the back was plastic.

What can an Android do that a Jailbroken iPhone can't?

Hey guys,

This is not intended to start a flaming war, and I figured I'd ask on this forum as it seems to be the most active. I'm currently using a jb iPhone 3GS and haven't really had any problems with it, but I am craving something new. I'm considering getting a Thunderbolt, but I'm trying to convince myself to move away from apple. What can be done on an Android that I can't do on my jailbroken iPhone? Also.. the spec's on the Thunderbolt don't seem to surpass the iPhone 4 spec's that much, if at all. This makes me worry I'll regret my decision is an iPhone 5 launches in june/july as expected. Any input would be appreciated. Again.. I am not an iphone fanboy at all, it's just the only smartphone I've had an experience with. I'm really trying to convince myself to Android as I'm itching for something new.

thunderbolt has bigger screen, better camera, 4G LTE, skype built in, and it runs android which the best os for customizing the home screens with widgets and having live wallpapers.

Look at it like this. Iphones need to be jailbroken to do what stock android phones do. But then if you root your android phone, there are even more possibilities.

What about wireless ota syncing of your music with Double Twist or iSyncr or the fact that you can sync to any computer without restriction hmm with the iPhone you can only sync to one iTunes account no drag and drop functionality whatsoever. True multitasking which iPhone still doesn't have, 4G LTE a feature that probably won't be included till iPhone 6, FLASH (most people will say isn't a major factor) but look at the possibilities Kongregate arcade anyone? Just so much better.

You don't need to root your phone to hold it. Jeeze don't be ridiculous.

But they're a lot more customizable, you're not tied down with iTunes to manage your media.

Thunderbolt has DLNA connectivity. It really depends on what you do with your phone.
