HTC "TWO" (M8) rumors and other thoughts

finally i found a store that had HTC ONE available to play with (not so easy here).
felt smooth, nice, good UI.
but now - i feel like the screen should be a bit bigger. i played with the Note 3 and i gotta say i dig the big screens.
G2 is ideal size IMO. but i hate both Samsung and G2 UI's.

geez, i guess i'll sleep on in a bit more :/

btw - i also read that the ONE fails to support some video codecs, or have difficulties playing them.
i plan to watch a lot of streamed movies from my pc. so will this be a problem?
i need a very codec friendly device.

The G2 has an awesome camera. You should think about that. As far as the UI goes - you can, and probably would want to install a 3rd party launcher. That would help somewhat.

Both the S4 and One have a better camera than the G2. It's too inconsistent and it doesn't focus properly in low light

I shouldn't have said that because I've only played with it in the store. What I should have said is that AC likes the G2 camera.

It's not bad. It's definitely in the Top 5 for Android phones

My brother just got a G2 and like that screen size better than my One. I know it's hard to have small bezels with front speakers, but HTC should try to slim down the borders for the M8. The G2 has about the same foot print with a half inch larger display.

i'll settle with the current screen size over the unnatural and over saturated G2 screen. really bothered me.

I am very happy with the screen size of my HTC One. And I think the speaker size is perfect. Any smaller and they might not sound as good.

I loved the one but I needed a better form fitting phone. The x is awesome and same size screen. If the one two was this size I would buy it in a second. I'll never sell my one

i caught up with this thread thinking it might be discussing the htc two... no.

it has more to do with bashing the htc one's "shortcomings" (according to some) in disguise.

"overexposing" pictures?
lens width?
video codecs?
saturated screen?

OP -

1. you are buying a mobile phone - not a house.
2. you are currently using an iphone 4 for crying out loud.
3. it seems to me you are particularly interest in the camera, which curiously is the most controversial aspect of the htc one. it is widely accepted that the best camera out there and endorsed by serious reviewers is the 41 MP camera with carl zeiss lens and what not of the Nokia Lumia. Perhaps you should look into it.
4. if you are just interested in finding out what the htc one's limitations are - as i have come to suspect by your various posts - you should consider that this might not be the phone for you after all.

it seems like new 64 bit processors will be the new standard from early year.
it will be a shame if the M8 will just go up to the snapdragon 800 IMO.
they should make the leap now and avoid being dragged behind.

i dont think 64 bit processors will be included on the M8. rumors suggest that it will ship with the latest snapdragon 805 processor, however.

for what its worth samsung has also disclosed that the S5 will not include 64 bit processors.

in practical terms, i dont see the iphone users taking any advantage of this technology. even the battery of the iphone 5S still sucks despite the low clock speed and dual core.

Nope M8 would mostly come with snapdragon 805 (if HTC opts for it) which is still not 64 bit

There's not much upside to going 64 bit on a mobile device yet.

Battery life on my wife's iPhone 5s is great. Better than her 4s which was better than the 5.

The G2 is worlds better than the S4 thanks to OIS. Any issues with low light pictures are caused by the user, not the camera.

I'm sure it's not everytime user fault, but my HTC One is amazing in low light situations

Really? I mean not all cameras can perform in low light. How are you so sure its user error?

Using the wrong modes, not understanding the purpose of the focus assist light. Pretty straightforward. I have zero issues using a g2 in low light.

I'm actually a pretty damn good photographer. Took a class a couple years ago in high school and got 2nd place for the photo contest :p
Anyway, I haven't personally used the G2 but some reviews have said that and one of them was MKBHD. I'd take his word over that of basically anyone in these forums :p
