HTC U11 vs. LG V30

I don't know which one to buy.

They are very similar phones. Both use the Snapdragon 835 Octa core processor. Both have 4 GB of RAM.

The LG's screen is slightly larger, but seems dimmer than that of the HTC U11. The HTC U11 would cost $200 less on my carrier, but the HTC has 64 GB of storage vs 128 GB on the LG V30+.

Does either one have a feature that you would consider to be a tiebreaker? If so, what is it?

They're really nothing alike. The u11 has ugly bezels, no headphone jack, and is very heavy.

To use with high quality audio files.

I used the HTC 10 for a week and hated. It's like its software was somehow more boring than stock.

If you don't mind the bezels or the UI, I'd say get the HTC U11. Save some money.

I had a HTC U11. It is a nice phone. But it is not as well constructed as the LG V30. It is only a 5.5 inch lcd vs the 6 inches P-oled on the v 30.
The biggest difference? no headphone jack on the Htc u11. They do include nice usb-c headphones that ONLY work on the htc u11. And it does have nice speakers. Audio output through the usb-c port is not as power as older htc phones that did have better quality sound.

Lg V30 not only has a headphone jack but hi-fi Dac with powerful amp.
LG v30 also has a great main camera and a wide angle lens, whereas the htc u11 is limited to a single lens

I think both are fine phones. HTC skin is very basic--which is often a big plus.

I did not like how the htc felt in the hand or the overall size. In comparison, the lg v30 feels awesome and the screen to body ratio is very high.

If you watch the jerryrigeverything you tube channel, you will see that in order to make the frame on the htc u11 have the squeeze sensor, the body glass isn't attached to the main screen...so durability for the htc u11 is questionable--it failed the bend test badly!

4 things that pulled me away from my HTC u11 is the FM radio and the quad dac and amp and the headphone jack which is needed. The 4th thing is having a removable battery which isn't relivent for these 2 phones but is for my v20

The USonic earbuds work great and sound great and the camera does a excellent job and you can get excellent battery life with the u11.

If I had to choose between these two I would opt for the v30 namely for the FM radio and the Dacs and amp.

Both are great devices. For me the design of the V30 is enough to choose it over the U11, but here are all the differences I can think of:

HTC U11:

+ the rear camera can be expected to be slightly better
+ the front facing camera is definitely better
+ according to reviewers the most fluent UI
+ more and faster updates can be expected
+ better speaker

LG V30:
+ very nice secondary wide-angle camera
+ more features and options in the UI
+ headphone jack with Quad-DAC
+ FM radio
+ wireless charging
+ more handy device

You should think of what is more important to you.

Would be nice to hear which one you choose.

So, I got the LG V30+.

I love the large screen.
Not having a bezel area with always-on Home button area took a little getting used to. (I don't mind bezels, and often feel like AC's writers are noticeably biased against them.)
I like some of the features a lot: double-tapping to turn on the phone is great; comfort view is very nice to have.

I've had occasional moments of lag, but have wondered if it is the specific app or web site, rather than the phone.

My real concern is that there is a faint vertical white band in the screen. It's not noticeable during most usage, but I did a screen test, and it is there. I know it is there. And that bugs me for a phone this expensive. This is supposed to be a flagship.

I don't know if I made the right choice or not. And I don't know if perfection is the enemy of good enough in this case. I mean, if I keep it, I am always going to know it is there, even in apps where I can't see it.

I wanted this phone to be perfect. It is very good, but it is not perfect.

LG Displays will be everywhere pretty soon. Besides the lovely TVs, we have iPhones & Pixel phones.

It's just one defective device which should be returned & replaced. Nothing widespread.

Nothing's perfect. But I'll be damned if I pay 800 + for a white vertical band across the screen. OP you know what to do.

I have both phones. The U11 takes better photos in general and has more case and screen protection options. Those are literally the only features that I miss.

The V30 has a larger screen, weighs less (A big deal for me), has a manual camera mode for stills and videos that destroys anything out there, has an always on display (Im am ex Windows 10 phone user so that matyers a lot xP), and finally, the gps based smart settings rock.

Those are all small features that I actually use that arent available on the U11. Basically, the V30 feels like a newer, more user friendly product.The camera wont take as nixe photos in auto, but the V30 will teach you how to user manual mode which can get just as good photos as rhe U11.
