HTC U12+ shipping

I am already using my Translucent Blue 64GB since last week, I bough it at the "HTC U" event in NYC last Wednesday evening:

PS: the thin sides around are black but the edges of back panel are still blue, just not translucent. Take it out on a sunny day and it looks gorgeous, with its all-blue back.

How are you liking the phone? Does it feel big in the hand? What's the performance and battery life been?

Does anyone have any idea when the carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobil and Sprint) will start selling the phone? The HTC unlocked versions are missing a Sprint version.

US carriers will not be selling the phone at all. We will have to order the unlocked US version on HTC.com or Amazon. Unfortunately, the phone will not be able to be used on Sprint ever.

I have been looking for carrier release information for the HTC U12+ through a lot of different sources. Where did you get such definitive information?

With all of the market penetration problems HTC has been having with its phones; why would they not want the marketing power that the major carriers would offer them through their respective marketing power?

It’s been said that this might be their last HTC phone unless this one performs well in the market place. Without the major sales channels, would this not be their death knell?

I think HTC is in a bind. In the US market, even with carrier support, how are they going to get decent sales when the majority of the population who walk into the store wants an iPhone or Galaxy? I do believe this will be HTC's last flagship release and it will probably sell worse than probably even the U Ultra.

When they announced the phone a few weeks ago, it was said then. Check the launch article put out by AC.

It's not that HTC doesn't want to sell on carriers, it's more the crappy carriers deciding what's good for customers and decided not to carry the device. They don't want inventory, store shelf space, support for devices that don't sell well. Apparently, most consumers don't care if their choice is limited to Apple and Samsung, they also don't mind carriers ruining OEM firmware, loading up crap etc.

So yes nothing going to change on carrier front, if you want devices which don't have huge use base your only option is to buy unlocked non carrier versions online.

Why would HTC even bother to release a phone that they know upfront is going to be a failure? Who is the genius at HTC who is making all of these brilliant strategy decisions? He might consider running for public office! :)

Just thought I'd start a thread for when the U12+ starts shipping. It's still all up in the air right now on when it's gonna start. I've emailed HTC for a more specific date, but haven't heard back. With the Amazon preorder going from June 7th to the 21st, and the more mainstream accessory makers not shipping until the 25th (Skinomi full body) or even in July (Spigen), I'm guessing later June. As of today, June 2, my HTC financing still says pending. It's starting to look like an LG release honestly.

Join the club! I have been an HTC user, since day I. At the beginning HTC were serious businessmen, caring about clients. For the past 3 to 4 years, after sale service has gone down drastically. Sent my latest U Ultra for repairs under garantee, stayed 38 days awaiting a spare part and came back half repaired.
Nevertheless, I purchased HTC U12+ on the 1st day prepaid order. I sent a letter to HTC asking for a "favour" in shipment, not on a price.
Do you think, I received a reply ? NO SIR.
Hence, may I say once more : Join the Club ?

I called HTC yesterday. The rep couldn’t give me a date, but just said soon. He did say June was correct, but nothing beyond that.

You didn't do the patience in the coffee thing we talked about?

Haha!!!! Nah, I’m plenty patient. I was just more curious if there was an actual date yet. I don’t mind waiting. It’s not knowing anything that bugs me.

Yeah I understand. I felt the same way about the LG V20 and V30.

Is getting a release date so much to ask? Its so difficult to hold onto a preorder when HTC is seemingly playing with us. All were asking for is a concrete day, its so nerve racking to be an HTC customer lately its almost not even worth the hassle.
