Ok so where is the update for all the bugs from JB? Are we gonna have to post a million thread responses to get that too? *sarcasm* Start the predictions...ready...set...NOW!

Also, I'm new to rooting (never done it yet) and I'm wondering which is the best Sense based ROM to get for JB? I keep seeing MeanBean, but besides that any other suggestions? I'm tech oriented however be easy on me as this will be my first time rooting an Android phone. I'll learn soon enough and get up to par with the rest of you :)

Asking which rom is the best is like asking what your favorite car is - I could probably name a car you like or would like, but until you're in the driver's seat, there's no way to know which rom you will like best. I do like both MeanBean and MeanRom. The advantage of MeanBean over MeanRom is everything that came with Android 4.1 - unfortunately, there isn't an overclock kernel yet. MeanRom is still running ICS, but it's overclocked. It's a fast bugger and the battery lasts an eternity. I would suggest you start there. There's tons of support for both. I'm not saying they are the best for you, but they are darn good options, especially for a sense based rom.

I would say try and test out a bunch of roms I really like jellybam 4.0 stable it's a non sense rom but I get on a regular day of use about 15+ hours Pandora and all running all day long so something to remember

What in these roms makes the battery life last so long, and how come these oem's don't add or take those elements away?

Most users have no bugs... I know I don't...

people on this site probably make up about less than 1% of all worldwide users... So complaints here hardly makeup a majority of anything when considering to release updates for bugs...

Well 1 everything is stripped everything that you do not need like say maps navigation or pretty much what are called gapps and all of the bloatware is gone a sense rom is about 600+mbs this one is only 370ish and they tweak the kernel as well

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice from you all. Keep it coming...every bit of info is useful.

I'll get to flashing sooner or later, just want to be prepared. I know to go to XDA and a few other sites for the gritty details on how to do it, but it's nice to hear from you all here about your experiences and preferences, real world use.

I'll be outside doing the HTC rain-dance to hopefully get an update from them soon...

Well I can tell you that the non-sense based roms would be a great choice just because you will have more ram and not as much bloatware and I think that you can't go wrong with any rom out there as long as it's for the Evo

I'm running Deck's CM10 (the 1/16 build) and it's great. Smooth, fast, and seems fairly stable (at least, I haven't noticed any issues yet).

Edit: I just noticed the OP asked for Sense-based ROMs (I know...it helps to read). That being the case, I'm still going to suggest CM10. :) It's soooo good being Sense-less.

In my opinion if you don't think your phone has any bugs you either are blissfully ignorant or just don't use your phone. And that goes for any phone not just the evo.

And I think we represent a good sampling of users on here, the biggest thing is that we actually care more than average. There are many people out there with problems with their phone who will never turn to a forum.

I disagree. Most people do have bugs!!! Especially since the JB update.

Actually for what it's worth many people had a worse experience before the update than after. I did a poll after the update and it was about 2 to 1

Well, sure the update was worse before. If you tried to make a call it would say "loading" for several minutes!!!! You couldn't call. Now you cant end a call!!!! Would you rather not be able to call or not be able to end a call? So yes the loading bug was the worst. At least you can just wait for someone to end the call or put the phone in light. ha ha just crazy

Well this go around I'm one of the lucky one's without all the popular bugs, I can end calls, listen to voicemail and navigate without crashing. But if and when anything goes wrong with this phone I'll be switching like yourself

Have you ever tried jellybam? I feel that it's the best choice out there just because you have all of the aosp style roms

And to answer a few of the other questions is very easy sense in of itself is not very stable but it has a lot of good features but you want to have something that has very little in the way of bugs go to a real stable aosp base rom

i suggest you try JellyBam.
it's a 3 N 1 ROM (CM, AOSP & PARANOID ANDROID). this part is where i really like about JB. there's a lot of room for modifications in the settings of the rom to make it stands in the crowd or show up with your friends.

the glitches ive found so far are:
video FC when using the front cam (i can live with this)
no photosphere in default rom. youve got to flash another Gallery2 with photosphere like what i did. and works great.

generally, ive been using JB since December, and im satisfied with it.
by the way, the battery is great. it last a day in standbye mode.
while playing music with JetAdio or PowerAMp, ive got a whole day with 55% battery drained.
give it a try if you want.
:-!
:)
