HTC Vivid APN issues

I have a iPhone 3GS , but I just bought a AT&T HTC Raider/Vivid off of a friend. Everything works ,I could even make calls. but I can't connect to Internet, I get a message saying "can't connect due to APN settings" or something like that. Do I need 4g data plan, or is there anything else I can do to fix this? Im new to this stuff, thanks in advance!
 
i think you need to go to an att store and get another sim card. i have the inspire, and just bought the vivid myself today. i remember asking an att rep at a mall, and he said that the sim cards for LTE devices are different, and that you need to pay something like $30 for the sim card and transfer. hope that helps.
 
doubt you will have to pay 30 dollars for a sim. Its just required that you set up your new LTE capable sim, even if you dont have LTE in your area. I had the same problem when I switched. It will turn on the network for you when you switch sim cards.
 
I too went from an Inspire to the Vivid. When I bought the phone in the store the rep told me that I didn't have to do anything except swap my SIM card out. Turns out that AT&T has to change your billing data from 4g to LTE. You have to call customer service. It was frustrating for me
