Android Central Question

Purchased unlocked M10 last week. Works fine on ATT except wifi calling can not be enabled. Read another post in this forum that speaks about this issue. Would have added to it but not able to (closed thread maybe). Unless someone knows otherwise, a M10 on ATT in USA will not support wifi calling. Love the phone but assisted calling over wifi is a must. Will either return phone or fork over more cash for phone extender. Undecided for now.. Anyone hear about ATT allowing it in the near term?

Unfortunately, with the current political climate in the US, I don't think we'll be seeing any US carrier support features such as wifi calling on any Huawei device. I had the M10 for T-Mobile for about a week, and it also didn't have wifi calling.

That sucks. Mine is Unlocked in the UK and I emailed Huawei to ask about WiFi Calling. They said as long as the carrier supports WiFi calling then the option will automatically appear.
When I got my Mate 10 Pro I was on a carrier (well an MVNO) that doesn't yet support the feature so there wasn't even an option to enable it. As soon as I switched to an another carrier and inserted their sim it did appear like they said and I was able to turn it on straight away.
I had a little look around online there and see that ATT wouldn't be getting VoWiFi at all though. They must be actively blocking it

My M 10 Pro is on TMO, they support WiFi calling, but there is no option on this device to enable it. This feature worked on other non Huawei devices I had. Wish it had it but my Mate 9 did not have it either.

If you a Google Voice user, wifi calling now works on the Mate 10 Pro through the GV app. I have been using it for a few days now and I am pleased so far.

I have started do the same thing with GV. I no longer feel carrier WiFi is needed.

New to wifi calling and GV. Does that mean the mate 10 pro can use google voice wifi calling on sprint's CDMA network? From my understanding 4g LTE is GSM technology for data but sprint still uses CDMA for phone calls. But mate 10 pro is GSM only. I am trying to see if I can use GV wifi calling to make phone calls and have calls to my carrier cell phone number forwarded to my GV. I also read that google voice calls are not charged anything from google (unless international calls) and that it still uses sprint minutes? I wonder how sprint count google voice wifi call minutes if it is not their own Volte or wifi call.

I've had my mate 10 Pro 4 months and only just realised it's turned off by default.

If you go into the settings in the dialer app itself to turn on along with HD calling.

What carrier are you on?
I'm with EE in the UK so not sure if I've really helped if you're having issues in the USA but on my previous phones WiFi calling was activated by the carrier whereas on my mate 10 Pro I had to switch it on.

ah ok, I don't think it will even show up as an option here in any of the carriers in the states. thanks!
