Pocketnow gave the phone a mixed review on sound quality--the speakers are good--it can overdrive the bottom speaker and the top earpiece speaker to create a kind of stereo effect-like boomsound on the htc 10. Not as good quality but reasonably loud.

But pocketnow said the amp for the stereo phones port was weak. I don't agree--the version I got is reasonably loud--much louder than my samsung s7 edge. Is it possible there was a change to the version released in jan 6 vs what they reviewed nov 2016?

Overall I really like the phone. I wish it was waterproof, but otherwise battery life stunning...sound good also! it has 4 microphones for sound recording!

I have had good luck with b&h as well

And to add, they have 30 day returns without penalty or restocking fees. You just have to pay to ship it back. Take it from someone who has done a lot of returns with them.

Yes B&H is great. I purchased many things from them. However, I got my Mate 9 at local BestBuy purely by luck. The online said none available at stores around me. I was just passing by to see and play with the Mate 9 in person. I talked to the sale dude and asked about the availability, he told me we got one here. So, I bought it on the spot and loving it.

Anyway, as far as the sound goes. I think it is great. Speaker phone sounds very loud and clear. I have no complaint on sound. I think it is one of the better sounding phone.

I wish Best Buy had the Mate 9 in stock in any of it's stores near me.

Did you go into the Best Buy store to see if they were in stock? When checked online it said none in stock for 250 miles but when I went into the store they had plenty in stock.

That's weird... I wonder why they didn't update stock

This has happened a lot to me lately with cell phones at best buy. Don't know what the deal is.

Is it me or is the Bluetooth audio quite low in comparison to some of the other flagships? (I'm asking about the mate 9 pro)

I haven't noticed that. To me, it seems about as loud as anything else I've ever used.

Do you have the mate 9 pro or normal version? I compared it with some blueant pump zone headphones paired to a colleagues s7 edge and it was noticeably louder (the samsung). Corded headphones seems fine though, so not the hugest deal just curious if others have had similar issues.
