Huge banner date/time display

Two days ago I woke up to a huge white date/clock banner on my home page. I hate it but can't figure out how to remove the white background.
Any help is appreciated.

Can you long-press it, then select Remove? That would get rid of it. (If the background stays, do the same thing to the background.)
