Huge internal storage glitch

So... I noticed that my app data was being stored in my miscellaneous folder. Though it was odd. Checked app manager... Have several 2+ gig apps listed as 80 mb with nothing stored on my external sd. The extra data is there in misc, but is not displayed anywhere outside of settings/storage, or accessible. If I try to move to SD, it moves most of those 80 mb and leaves those invisible 2 gb untouched.

This is a unlocked refurbished n900a, stock and unrooted on 5.0.

Any ideas?

Hello, welcome to the forums! The files included under miscellaneous can be different depending on the phone. Most Samsung devices include the system files in that list and there's not much you can do with them. The rest are mostly cache files. Check in your storage settings the size of your cached data. Some of those cache files can be deleted inside the specific app settings. Which apps are you having problems with?

This is affecting all my apps.
Here in an example: I download "app A". App A is 1 gb. My misc file size increases by 950 mb. Application manager lists app A as 50 mb. 25 of that 50 can be moved to my sd.

This is the case for everything I download, including apps I had no issue with on my previous phone. No app is displayed right, and I can't move the data around. It's as if my phone is saving app data in a secure system partition.

I would simply reset, but I fear this is an OS issue. Lollipop seems to be writing data to the wrong place.

I would really appreciate any help with this... I don't want to be forced to root to change the write location.

Here too, 900-V. Rolled back to KitKat for unrelated reasons and problem is solved.

A factory reset won't help. This is a known (but ignored?) bug.

Ahhh, I see. Thanks for the info.

I've been considering a root and rollback, but imagine I'll wait for 5.1 and hope.

If you want to know where the miscellaneous files are located it's in the "android" folder.
