Huge Problems After 4.4.3 AT&T Update

Thanks for the responses everyone! Glad to see the community trying to find a fix and alerting HTC and AT&T to the issues. Now I'm trying to install a root rom to my One M8. Can anyone link me a rom to Sense 6.0 without AT&T bloat ware and to a Cyanogenmod rom? Thanks again, everyone.

Welcome to Android Central! When you say that you cleared the cache, do you mean the individual app caches, or the system cache partition (from the Recovery Menu)?

Thanks for the welcome! Yes and yes, I've cleared caches for both individual apps and the phone itself

Are you still having the same issues? If so, just for curiosity sake, if your using stock messaging app for SMS, switch over to hangouts for default SMS, then switch back to stock messaging as default, give it a bit and see if issues go away...

Thanks for the welcome! Yes and yes, I've cleared caches for both individual apps and the phone itself

So if i back up using htc back up and then do a hard reset the phone will get back to 4.4.2 level of performance i.e. no batter drain, working sms etc??

Looks like Wipe Cache Partition and a full recharge did it....I am yet to pop in my SIM card which I moved to my spare phone and see if SMS and other stuff are working fine...at least the battery seems to hold charge better...so i will propose wipe cache partition through hard boot into recovery mode and then do a full recharge of the phone before tampering with it...may be it will work for you all...worth a try before going the full factory reset option...

Well I bit the bullet and did a factory reset. Phone is running like it did out the box. Doesn't feel hot at all, SMS messages are getting delivered, notifications are working properly, battery isn't draining as fast. Works like a charm. Fell in love with it all over again. So if you're able to back up the phone I recommend a factory restart.

Great..for me..i was about to do the factory reset but i did wipe cache partition a couple of times and then switched off the phone and did a full recharge overnight before using it...now so far it looks like all the problems are solved...but i am still considering a full factory reset ..just to make sure :)

UPDATE: NO NEED FOR FULL FACTORY RESET FOLKS. DO WIPE CACHE PARTITION THROUGH RECOVERY TWO TO THREE TIMES. THEN SWITCH OFF THE PHONE AND LET IT CHARGE FULL WITHOUT USING IT IN THE MIDDLE (BEST IS OVER NIGHT) AND THEN SWITCH IT ON AND VOLA EVERYTHING IS BACK TO NORMAL....

After the first day of hi temp and battery draining extremely fast. My phone is better than ever. It's been 2 days since I charged my phone and it's only at 66% with moderate use. I'm happy with the new update

Did you wipe anything or just waited it out?

Just waited it out . The only thing I did was power down the phone for about 5 min and it was back to running cool soon after

The new update works fine. I think people are just impatient. When I first updated I was having the battery drain and over heating issues so I simply left my HTC phone alone for an hour when I finally started using it the phone was back to normal. My battery might actually be a little better in battery life department.

The real question for the rest of us that did not update yet is WHEN will it be fixed and re-released???

My friend had the issue after AT&T system update, but he just reboot it once or twice and did nothing(no factory reset), and then phone is normal now. Had somebody like friend done nothing and the phone is back to normal?

Or anybody is still having the issue now?

I just checked A&T Software Update and it's back up there right now. 7:30PM PST

EDIT: Just rebooted from the update and it still says 4.4.2. Not sure what it was then. Odd.

I kept checking for update and nothing was there. Now I know why. Glad I wasn't able to update right away.

So I saw that device management icon a few times over the weekend and when I woke up on Sunday I noticed my phone is no longer heating up badly, real slow, and draining battery quickly. Did they push out some sort of quick OTA to fix this issue?

Seems my SMS is working also.. I wiped cache days prior and was still seeing the issues everyone experienced.. and then suddenly on Sunday everything seemed to be fine.. anyone else?
