So I have a Droid running 2.1 non-rooted as of now. I am eager to root it, but looking through the countless tutorials, many of which are outdated, I am a bit confused. Can someone please point me to the easiest and safest way to root?

the source code was just released today. so are all these tutorials out of date as well? its not a final version of froyo but i assume its stable.

Unless I'm mistaken, the only part of the process that would be affected by having a Mac is the RSD Lite program used to flash SPRecovery. This a Motorola product, so the answer might be found when you go to download it.

Everything else that involves the computer is just moving downloaded files onto the SD card. I assume the card can be mounted on Mac just as it can on a PC, but having never owned a Mac I don't know.
