I am begging for a dev to please extract the stock Virgin Mobile Optimus V baseband for me. If its any easier you can extract the entire system in .kdz format. I wiped my 3G by flashing my baseband and I know of a few others who have done the same. This would be great for the forum as an entire "Return to stock" for the OV.

Thank you

is this not something thats included in ROMs? would it not be easier to wipe the entire phone, flash a 2.2 rom and run the activate.apk?

I cant see how this is something that doesnt get wiped when one wipes the phone and flashes a rom.

radios are not part of a rom/wipe flash.. i need the stock radio info back on my phone.. running the activate.apk does nothing cuz im not on my correct radio

Where did you guys get this ThunderRom, assuming that is where you did this, since a few others have said as much. ThundeRom hasn't been worked on in while.

Second, you should be able to flash another rom and use the activate app. I've done it, several times with several S roms. In which case either someone is lying somewhere regarding the rom you are using, or something else is wrong.

As for the radio, the entire system is in the rom. The only way it won't fix it, is if it is something in the phones firmware, in which case you are probably screwed, but I don't think you can mess that up that easy by flashing a rom. Unless that rom has been altered to do so.

One way or another, you guys need to stop messing with those roms not meant for your phone. Especially outdated ones.
Did you not see the [DEAD ROM] in the title?

i did some more reading apparently some roms (accross all android phones, not just the OV) have the radio info included with the roms when you flash. and some dont.

this makes me wonder if there is a rom for the V that has the radio info, you could just flash that rom, then whatever other rom you normally use.

you kind of dug yourself in this hole lol. worst comes to worse buy a new phone and dont tinker with stuff you dont fully understand. or be willing to accept problems like this. it comes with the territory. all the warnings of flashing various things explicitly warn that exactly this and worse can happen.

I flashed my radio to the VD baseband to work with thunderom. This is my problem. I'm not on the Virgin meid anymore (i'm assuming from research). I did it thru KDZ and YES it was a firmware update. This is why i need the firmware from the stock OV. Flashing all the roms in the world and activating wont fix anything untll i flash the stock firmware back to my OV. And the version of thunderom i used was "said" to be ported for the V. I was lied to. lol..

I agree fully. I totally did this to myself. I knew the dangers. I'm simply asking for help :)... Besides.. An entire stock firmware/software would be awesome for everyone to be able to get from this forum easily...

geeze, hey. OP, flash a new rom and be done with this mess. geeze. BACKside IHO is very good. a worthwhile upgrade if your on the stock or a 2.2 rom.

So you flashed a different rom AND a radio firmware update for a phone that doesn't match?
WHY?

There is nothing for the OV to flash the radio.
Even LG can't manage to do so, they can't even send an update to older phones to update the rom.

LeslieAnn.. I take it you made and or helped make Harmonia... Cuz i LOVE it.. im running it now.... is it possible to include the radio info and make JUST me a rom to fix this issue?

Cuz i was running thunderom at the time and liked it... it needed the VD baseband.. so i flashed it...... live and learn :)

cuz ive read all over that these phones share roms/kernels/recoveries and so on.... apperantly not radio info tho... just fyi :)

Okay, here is the deal.
First off,
Post in whatever thread said it was for our phones, tell off whoever told you to do this to go jump in a lake and warn everyone not follow their advice.

Second...
Go buy a new phone (and put Harmonia on it :p). Sorry.

Here why.
In order to flash the update, it cannot be done through a recovery, it will brick the phone. This has been confirmed by S experts. It must be done through ADB using the firmware update. The only firmware flash we have for the OV is the V5 radio update which also is meant to go through ADB. Problem is, it's borked. Even LG cannot figure out how to make it work.

We can't extract it, we can't install it. The only thing we, and LG can do is verify that there is a V5 radio update written and it comes on newer OV's.

Yes, these phones share things, they are like brother and sisters, but they aren't identical twins.
Firmware flashes for any electronics are meant to be taken serious. Flashing firmware can bork things very fast.

Thank you for your patience and explanation LeslieAnn.. I WILL run Harmonia if I get a new phone. I run it now. Its great.. But I think i'll wait until LG figures out the V5 issue (should be sooner then later I HOPE! lol) and just update my phone then, and have a dumb phone for now :)

You're welcome.

V5 comes on current shipping phones.
They also come with 2.2.2

They just can't make either in a form we can update older phones with.

from a couple years with virgin, and multiple phones, I'm afraid VM doesn't allow manufacturers to offer firmware or even prl updates. anything out of the ordinary "download direct from VM with credit card" isn't supported and has to be hacked into or out of the phones. ask lg for anything software other than source code and they say "talk to VM"
I'd be interested in your borked phone to work on the problem but can't afford to buy it from you. I'm afraid it's as useless on the network now as a sprint optimus with a bad ESN locked out by sprint.

there was a thread here a while back with someone messing with qpst and cdma workshop trying to get their VM settings back after flashing a sprint baseband. don't remember seeing a complete solution.
good luck!
