I am having a problem that Pixel XL-2 is going black during phone call

I cannot do anything including using the power button to make it responsive. This means there is no way to even disconnect the call or make a selection with dial pad.

In the meantime, are you using Bluetooth during these calls or just the phone?
Do you have the latest update to the Phone app (dated January 2018)?

Based on what I know so far, the two things that could cause this is an issue regarding the proximity sensor, or that update to the phone app that causes this when you have a BT headset.

Capri, the only "solution" is replacement of the proximity detector. Since Google doesn't maker them, they have to wait for the manufacturer to redesign them.

I have heard this problem mostly after 8.1 and on phones with a glass screen protector.

It has happened to me a few times to be honest. No screen protector and off BT headphones. I usually tell the other person to hang up on me.

I was having the same problem. I cleaned the top part of my screen where the sensor is and it works fine now (Pixel XL 2 with pixel case and Zagg screen protector).
