I am returning my HTC One (M8). Are you?

In case anyone was interested in my opinion (haha), I played with the galaxy S5 today. The camera products better pictures, but it's significantly slower. They phone overall feels cheap for lack of a better word. With the One, you can tell it's a premium device.

The One had a nicer screen. The S5 has super saturated colors which I found irritating. I also didn't like TouchWiz at all. It's clunky and not easy to get used to, especially coming from a different phone.

The S5 is not flat on the back because the camera sticks out. So the phone rocks back and forth when you lay it down.

Overall, the S5 produces better pictures than the One. But in all other aspects, the One is a far superior premium device in my opinion.

So if camera isn't a major concern is the m8 the way to go?

That is my opinion, yes. It's a much nicer, easier user experience. And it feels MUCH nicer than the galaxy.

Well played sir

But the One moves much less.

I don't mind it on the One since it's a "symmetrical" wobbling, if you will. Having a camera protruding out the back means it's off balance in three areas vs. two. =O

The horror!

They both wobble.

I played with both phones and both are very nice. It will come down to preference. I actually loved the feel and look of the S5. Its much better in person to be honest. Both phones fly, I wouldn't call either one clunky. Touchwiz seems more toned down than sense to be honest although I've always like both and you can get rid of a lot of it with a third party launcher anyway. Both cameras are plenty fast. Couldn't tell much difference. Can't go wrong either way.

My unlocked HTC One M8 is going back to Amazon. Only because I'll be getting one directly from T-mobile. :)

agreed as do mosdt reviewers... while the s5 takes better picture in s"some" instances it is a lot slower to react. some say up to 5 sec to focus.

That was my experience. It was so slow to focus that I thought I was doing it wrong. Much slower than the One.

I disagree with the height thing. I have small hands and I'm short and I had little difficulty in handling the M8. Because of its smaller width the phone is not that hard to use. To reach the top of the screen is not too difficult either. I played with one in store and its pretty easy to handle.

I agree - I have petite hands too and it's not the height, it's the width that is the main factor in holding a phone comfortably. I find the M8 actually a little easier to hold than the M7. Also with the tap and slide gestures there's a lot less need for me to go for that top button.

I always put so much emphasis on camera quality when choosing a new phone. Problem is I never use the camera. Lol.

Why would you take your expensive phone to the gym?

I love my HTC one. M8 by far the best device I've ever owned

If its your music player and your actual phone why not take it to the gym? When I went to the gym I know I had my phone.

If it's a regular thing I'd take the phone but use a music player simply t avoid sweat and such..

But that's just me.....

I am coming from a Note 2, which I brought to the gym. For reference I am about 6'2, but I always wear those Nike swishy pants to the gym. The note 2 was a tad too much phone in the pants at the gym. It was even a tad annoying to carry around during vacation last week in South Beach.

That said.... This phone for me feels substantially smaller than my Note 2. I can't see how you would look like a tool bag in the gym. I am in the gym 6 days a week. The phone looks completely normal aside from the beautiful build quality. Maybe you have small hands?

.Touchwiz seems more toned down than sense to be honest

Touch wiz is still touch wiz. It still is bloated with a ton of crap you may or may not use. It still has parts of gingerbread around it... only 8GB of useable space. No thanks....

sense 5-6 really cleaned things up. sure its loaded with things you may or may not use but the number of things is toned down quite a bit plus the over all design is pretty nice.

That's false. There is more than 10GB of usable space on the 16GB version. Don't let hate cloud your judgement. Samsung S5 is good phone and touchwiz has toned down a lot.

Man this made me laugh, because I know exactly what your talking about. Good post

I've messed with two different S5's and the camera was very responsive for me. Both cameras took pics almost instantaneously. Not sure what we are doing different to get different responses? Every review has also said the camera is fast. The M8 might be slightly faster but both are considered very fast.
