I am returning my HTC One (M8). Are you?

Touch wiz is still touch wiz. It still is bloated with a ton of crap you may or may not use. It still has parts of gingerbread around it... only 8GB of useable space. No thanks....

sense 5-6 really cleaned things up. sure its loaded with things you may or may not use but the number of things is toned down quite a bit plus the over all design is pretty nice.

First, there is 10gigs left on the 16gig model. Next, you might not use many features, but they are there if you or others need them.

Sure, sence is cleaned up allot. So much so, you can't even use luck screen widgets. What is on the all new one? Kitkat or ICS? It's hard to tell.

Lol. Seriously. My last 4 phones were / are Samsung. TW still looks like Gingerbread. Just sayin.

Uh, you can use lock screen widgets. Just enable them in security settings.

HTC One (M8) Support - Lock screen | HTC United States

always best to educate yourself on these matters before going off like that.

and from air gestures, to silly health and baby monitors. how often will you use them daily?

Why would you take your expensive phone to the gym?

I love my HTC one. M8 by far the best device I've ever owned

I log my workouts with GymGoal and FitBit Flex. My phone goes with me everywhere I go.

*sigh*

I can't believe this will be returned because it's not playing nice with my iMac. :(

I can't Android File Transfer to work!!!

Apparently you don't go to the gym. Because if you did you'd see almost everyone on cardio machines using their 'expensive' phones and even some using their 'expensive' phones while lifting weights. Take away: Expensive phones are popular in gyms.

I like how the using lockscreen widgets was an argument.

Funny thing is, the S5 is the one that doesn't support lock screen widgets. Oh the /irony!!

Want to know what is even more hilarious? I own the m8! (I just can't find the spot to enable it to turn on the lock screen widget in security)

And as far as the S5, it supports lock screen widgets... You just can't change the clock on the default home lock screen.

See we both learned something new today.

Flip!

I can't believe I had to return it over a USB connection! :(

I guess I will get the Sony XPERIA Z2 after all.

Can't change the default clock widget on the HTC either - so they are even ;)

HTC Sync - it's much more stable than AFT. Working like a champ on my three Macs

You can't be talking about this. Something else I'm missing here?

My thoughts on the phone boil down to great phone that is not for me. I found the camera to entirely adequate. I think HTC is on the right track; they just picked the wrong mega pixel count. If they took the same approach with an 8 mega pixel sensor and added back the optical image stabilization then they would be on to something. The screen was beautiful. The speakers were awesome. Sense is very good and adds something to the experience. All that is great, but this thing is freaking huge. Anyone who takes this to the gym will look like a giant tool. I didn't think I was a small phone guy, but the Moto X has spoiled me. Are you giving up on the M8 and why are you?

Nope. In fact, I'm a female with small hands and have no issues handling the phone whatsoever.

It's the happiest I've been with a phone ever with the exception of my iPhone.

Have you ever heard of immersive mode? It's a new feature in KitKat that allows apps to go fullscreen, thus allowing the M8 to use all 5 inches of its display. More and more apps support immersive mode every day.

Heck, immersive mode is even coming to Chrome browser. You can enable it in the beta version now.

Not to mention, every video playback app and most games out there support immersive mode already.

So you can certainly make use of the extra screen real estate on the M8 a lot of the time, and it will only be easier to make use of it going forward as more apps add support for immersive mode.

Immersive mode is not available in the chrome beta. :(

Uh.... The search bar is within the screen. The screen size is the screen size regardless of the content. But the good news is you can believe whatever you need to. Enjoy!
I see the M7 above the M8 and also the search bar on the top

I would hope they integrate it soon...

I have the stock HTC Browser installed but I don't really like how the Immersive Mode works on it as it's more distracting to have the Address Bar and Navigation bars popping in and out than to have them just sit on the screen. Recalling the Nav Bar by swiping up from the bottom bezel is fine, but having it show up by doing a quick swipe on the actual page leads to accidental triggers as I scroll...

I think Immersive Mode with the Chrome quick controls (aka pie controls) would be an interesting combination.

Not that that's a problem, it's just that you could make a better comparison by removing the search bar. That's all I'm saying. I don't have an M8.

Why? The comparison is not about the content.
It's the actual screen, which is clearly evident in the pic. I only made the point because I was excited about the M8 (being an M7 owner).
When I went to look at it and saw that it was almost the size of a Note 3 but with just about the same screen size as an M7.....well, it was a huge no go for me. I also thought that this info would be helpful to others (which it appears to have been). There has been more consternation over this pic than I can tell you. I didn't doctor the photo nor did I make the phone. What you see is what you get. Being angry with me gets you what, a larger screen? Nope.
