I bricked my phone, fixed it but I still have issues

Yesterday I reverted back to my stock Android 2.2 Nandroid backup and then I factory reset to remove all of the apps and settings. But I did the reset from in the Android privacy menu not knowing that doing so would brick the phone.

So I bricked my phone, the phone just automatically booted into the recovery menu and I could install any ROM no matter what I tried in the recovery menu. The ROMs did install but the phone just wouldn't boot to them.

After a while of trying to fix the problem I tried following the sticky tutorial on how to unroot and return to stock Android because I read that could fix my problem. But that ended up bricking my phone even more to the point where the phone just got stuck at the LG logo.

I fixed that by going into emergency mode and using an LG program to do something that got me back into the recovery menu. I then decided to install another recovery menu and this is where I'm at now, at least sort of.

I installed the Xionia Clockwork recovery. Once it was installed I could get to the recovery menu but I couldn't see or do anything. But every time I boot into Android the phone resets itself and I can see the recovery menu resetting the data and all that. So I can basically get into the Android ROM that I flashed with the previous ROM but every time I reboot my phone the phone is factory reset to I lose all the apps and settings.

So I tried going back to the ThunderC recovery which I used before but that recovery just doesn't work well. The phone just automatically boots to the recovery menu and I can't access Android at all.

I really don't understand what's going on and I'm not really a noob when it comes to this kind of stuff. So if anyone could help me out it would be appreciated. I can give more information as needed. I have an Optimus S with Zefie's CM7 Gingerbread ROM. But I'm fine if I have to install another ROM to get this working since I have some Titanium backups that should let me restore my settings and apps.

1. Read much before doing anything.

2. The more you avoid following #1, the worse this situation gets. Everything you entered above demonstrates this and I see more problems coming for you if you just keeping mucking about in the dark. There is a sticky warning you not to do exactly what you did with the factory reset; you should not have missed it.

That having been said, here is what I would do:

1. Forget everything that you think you have installed. At this point, the only thing that matters is what baseband/radio you were on. If you were running a CM7, then you are most likely still on ZVD.

2. Install Xionia custom recovery and reboot. It is the best option available for this device presently.

3. Clear all caches, data, dalvik cache, etc. Use the Debug-FormatSYSTEM.zip to be sure you got it all.

4. Install a ZVD based custom ROM. While thekraven's CM7 (current CM7 ROM) is an option available to you, I would suggest you use a stock-based ROM, such as Reborn or sROM, since it allows you to do device specific tasks and has device specific tweaks. The thread for the CM7 ROM even suggests having this set up in advance so that you can perform these tasks when needed. Further, CM7, while it offers lots of cool stuff, is more buggy than some of the others. I recommend getting comfortable with another ZVD ROM before switching to CM7.

5. Once you have fully booted into your new custom ROM and logged into your Google account, do a nandroid backup using Xionia recovery. This gives you a fallback point if your tweaking borks something. Always, always, always do a nandroid backup before applying a new mod or removing any system apps.

6. At this point, you would be able to stick with the working custom ROM, clear and flash another, or follow the directions to return to stock if you prefer. Alternatively, you could follow the guide to switch to ZVH and use some of the ROMs available for it.

7. BTW, restoring TB app backups between different ROMs and/or basebands is generally not a good idea. ;)

Good luck!

I fixed my issue. I installed the Xionia recovery and this time it worked so I looked through the recovery menu and I saw an option to fix recovery boot loop or something like that and that fixed the issue where the phone did a factory reset every time it boot.
