Android Central Question

Im trying to flash twrp on my s9 plus sm-g9650 it has a supported twrp when i try flashing it i get an issue saying mdm cant download recovery ive searched everywhere i coule think ans couldnt find an issue just a bunch of fix scams where u pay them and get nothing and a bunch of obvious malware odin comes back with FAIL!(Auth) i just want root and a custom kernel and i dont knoe what i should mdm seems to serve multiple functions like kiosk mode but my phone isnt in kios mode obviously and help would be appreceated

TWRP isn't necessary if you find a custom ROM that does what you want in Odin format.

'mdm' is the modem - the thing that communicates with the outside world, wifi or mobile data.

Make sure that the version of TWRP you try to install is the version for the SM-G9650. It's not the same software for all phones. It's not even the same software for all S9+ phones.

Ive tried flashing another rom in odin odin it gave me a completely different error i know its the right model also mdm has multiple meanings modem ,mobile device management , mass download mode etc ill retry flashing the rom again and post the error it was something having to do w the res svc

Anyone else willing to help

Hi man. I have the same G9650, bought it from Claro, a carrier from Brazil. I tried to flash the ZTO Rom (no carrier firmware) and had the same issue as yours. I tried flashing the original Rom and the Samsung Pay, Banks, and every app that requieres any kind of security certificate stoped working. I reach the Samsung store here and they told me that the g9650 linked to carriers are unable to be flashed by others carries or no carriers roms. They change the main board of my phone, because I used Odin and an oficial rom, it dindt void the warranty. So, unless you bought an free-carrier G9650 you cant flash your device. I read the same in XDA.
