I can't get past about 2.5 - 3 hrs of screen on time...

How is your WiFi? At the furthest location at my house my WiFi is still at 75% but when I'm downstairs, I'm usually at 90-100% signal. That might have an impact on battery life.

I also don't have a lot of items syncing. Just gmail, contacts, calendar and app data.

WiFi is solid green. It helps that 95% of the time, I'm about 20 feet from the router. Pretty much the same things syncing as you have. I don't use Facebook so that's not an issue. I'm starting to wonder if the Network Extender, while necessary, isn't the cause of my issues. I know for every device I've had, I always get less battery life than most people. I've had NEs since my first smartphone due to the poor signal in my area (without it I would get around -100dBm and with it I get around -65 to -75dBm on 1x doing voice calls). The only way to really check it out is if I were to go to a metro area with good signal and use it like I normally do. The only problem is that when I go to an area with better signal, it's usually on business or visiting relatives, so I don't use it the same as at home. Add to that a lot of bad signal areas between my home and cities, so it makes it hard to get an accurate picture to determine if my issues are solely signal related.

Constantly going from 1X to 3G to LTE can kill the battery as well.

I rarely get LTE and when I do it's only momentarily, especially with the Network Extender running. I don't see 3G unless I shut off the router, so I'm essentially on 1x for voice and WiFi for data the lion share of the time.

What's the actual power usage of the screen? And are you using the screen in bright areas, because even with adaptive brightness, that'll push the screen's brightness to higher levels and use more battery.

disable bluetooth location scanning
disable wifi background scanning

reboot to recovery, wipe cache and see if it helps with your OS and GPServices drain.

Try just disable auto sync. I disabled that on my G3 and it made a big difference (much less power draw when screen is off).

i get similar issues. for some reason my cell reception no matter where i go is always either yellow or orange/red. on previous phones it was green. also android os or google play services always shows multiple hours of keep awake.

I don't have Adaptive Brightness enabled, because with it turned on the brightness level in a dark room still isn't as low as the lowest setting on manual brightness.

Try something crazy. Disable LTE and completely switch to 3G (or whatever is available).

Even if you don't get LTE signal your phone is still trying to GET LTE signal possibly "upping" the antenna power in attempt to get it.
(killing the battery life very very fast in the process...). The reason is that LTE needs much higher "antenna power" (trying to keep it simple - bear with me here) than any other type of signal.

While this might sound stupid truth is : If you don't stream or download we're talking a 2-3 seconds of difference for typical page to download (vs LTE)

What are your location settings set to? Try using battery saving mode.

Settings > Location > Mode > Battery Saving

I've found it to make a significant different for me on both my Note 4 and now my 6P.

My location settings are set to battery saving.

As far as turning off LTE, how are they doing that now? Awhile back there was a number string you could enter into the dialer and the app LTE On/Off to disable LTE, but I thought they didn't work correctly for awhile now.

To turn off LTE:

Settings -> tethering & networks -> mobile networks > network mode

It's probably set to GSM / HSPA / LTE Auto

Set it to GSM / HSPA auto. (Or just HSPA only)

(Sorry... I'm looking at LG-G3 on 5.0.1 today)

Thanks everybody for your replies. I'm certainly not comparing it to the Zerolemon battery. I know it is 3 times the size of it. I'm just comparing my SOT to everybody else's SOT. I thought I was managing all of the battery consuming options on the phone, so I was thinking maybe I needed to reset and start over if there isn't anything out of the ordinary eating up my battery.

I was having similar issues to you with battery life. I finally did a factory reset (I know it's a pain) but I'm glad I did. My battery life has increased significantly. One thing I didn't do was use automatic restore to restore all my apps. I added them back one by one only adding the ones I really used. It has helped tremendously. I was getting 2-2.5 hours of SOT and now I easily can get 4 hours or more. It worked for me.

Are you asking because some people are getting in the 4-6 hrs SOT, or are you comparing it to your zerolemmon battery?

Because if it's the latter, you're comparing battery life between a device with 10,000mAh to one with 3450mAh. That's roughly 3 times larger than the unit in the 6p, and there's no way you're going to make up for that if everything else (signal strength, location services, settings, etc) are the same between the two. The newer processor will help, but there's no way it can overcome that deficit.

I get about the same SOT as you do, but I also got the same on my Droid Turbo as well, which had a 5.2" screen with the same resolution and a 3900mAh battery, and a CPU that didn't have the issues that the 810 had. The only device I've had that got over 3hrs SOT was my Droid Maxx, and that had a 5" 720p screen.

At this point, they either need to drop back to a 1080p screen, use more efficient battery tech or a larger battery, or find more efficient screen tech, or a combination of them. The screen is always going to be the largest drain on a phone's battery, and since everyone wants to stay thin, the options are to go with a bigger screen (and therefore a bigger battery), but then the larger screen pulls more juice. If they relaxed the thin requirement, they would be able to put a battery that could handle the screen size by making a thicker battery rather than a thin one with a larger footprint.

I have three mail apps syncing, all antennas are on all of the time and I'm getting nearly 5 hours screen on time and about 12 hours usage on a daily basis! Now, the battery did have to get through some cycles before I experienced the full longevity of this baby.

Thank you, when doing the factory reset, isn't there something else I need to do in the process to wipe some cache or something?

I only get 3 hours of screen on time on average as well, and only a 3hr25min max :p I watch a bunch of videos and play games so that probably doesnt help. Would be nicer if it lasted longer.

I'm on Verizon so I might as well just turn off mobile data in that case. At least it would leave my voice enabled, but I wouldn't have access to SMS/MMS.

I'm with Rogers in Canada and it works differently here.

HSPA is actually HSPA+ (up to 21MBs down). Very very close to LTE.
I run my phone deliberately on HSPA+ and I can really barely tell a difference while my battery life is much much better than on LTE.
(This is partially due to poor LTE signal at my work place...)

Also, at least for us on Rogers, SMS has nothing to do with data as long as you're not trying to send or receive pictures.

SIDENOTE:
I just gogoled it... here's a copy paste from google search for LTE speed:
"Verizon 4G LTE wireless broadband is 10 times faster than 3G—able to handle download speeds between 5 and 12 Mbps (Megabits per second) and upload speeds between 2 and 5 Mbps, with peak download speeds approaching 50 Mbps."

EDIT:
I actually know someone who doesn't mind toggling data on and off.
Turn it on couple of times per day when you care about web browsing or checking e-mail.
Otherwise turn it off. 3 arguments for this: 1. It takes literary 1 second to turn data on plus this prevents your rouge phone apps (I guess we all have those) from dialing unwanted personal info back to mother-ship. 2. Those who do this swear that this does miracles when it comes down to controlling data caps. (Of course this will not work if you HAVE TO constantly monitor your e-mail for something that might require immediate response... or if you're facebook whats up junkie who needs to know instantly when someone contacts them...) 3. Yea... battery life suddenly sky rockets...

Get custom kernel, i use ElementalX on my N6 and i have 5-8 SOT depends on signal. And for future reference, go to XDA, there is not much ppl on this site who can help you with Nexus, casual users here...

Well, I tried shutting off mobile data completely and set WiFi to shut down when asleep. My battery life if anything has actually gotten worse. So in that case I'm gonna switch back and just deal with it. I get a full day (unless I'm really working it hard) and in combo with fast charge that'll be enough.
