I can't receive texts from one person.

Hi all,

I have a very odd problem with my phone. I can send and receive texts fine from all people except for one of my friends. I can receive texts with just pictures, and texts with pictures and words, but I can't receive texts that just have words. They show on his phone as being successfully sent. I had him try with my wife, and my son. Neither of them get his texts either. He has a Samsung Galaxy S9, and my wife, son and I have Samsung A8 (newer one). None of us have my friend blocked. It's not going to spam. All phones are up to date with latest release.

Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance!!

If all settings, and nothing spam or blocked maybe talk to your carrier about it .

Like Mustang said, maybe he's blocked on your carrier's end, for some reason.
You might be able to see it, if you log in to your carrier's web site.

Welcome to Android Central! This has happened to me from time to time - and sometimes, I'd have a mixed bag: texts would send copies of themselves to select contacts or they'd get my texts a few hours later.

Are you using the stock SMS app that comes with your phone? In my case, I was using Textra and after contacting the app developers, they sent me through a series of steps that solved the issue.

Yes I am using the stock SMS app. Maybe I will try another one and see if that makes any difference.

Yes, perhaps try using Textra or another third party messaging app and see if anything changes. Or, even see if this situation persists when you boot your phone into Safe Mode.

This has worked for me in the past: delete the full message tread with that person and then try to send-receive again.
