i changed my pin to a password but android asks me for pin so i cant access my phone

[Android Central Question]

i changed my pin to password on android. locked it. but as i want to unlock it asks for a pin, whereas i changed it to a password. i put my old pin in and it doesnt recognize it as correct. but it doesnt let me put a password either, as only numbers are allowed. has anyone ever had this?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Which menu did you use to make the change -- the Settings>Security menu on the phone?

Factory reset in recovery

Hi. Yes it was on settings, screen lock. I had a pin. so then i changed to a password. it asked me to insert the password twice to confirm which i did. BUt as soon as i was done, there was some sort of error message and i felt the pin had not changed to password. to test it, i locked my phone, hoping i could easily unlock it. it asked me for a pin so i put my original pin (the one that i had supposedly just changed). but it doesnt accept it. so i thought "i will put the new password in". but i cant do that becuse the screen doesnt allow me to put letters! so i can only put numbers, yet the pin doesnt work, and i cant try to use the "new" password either

i have no back up and would lose all my photos etc....i was told droid kit can recover files from locked phone can you really recover files after factory reset, with no back up?!

Which phone? Unfortunately, it may be some system glitch that you may not be able to recover from easily.
