News I didn't think this minimalist Pixel 9 case would work until I dropped it on concrete

The Pixel cases made by Google are the best I've ever used. Feel and look great and fit perfectly. I always get one when I get a new Pixel.

These cases are a joke and an absolute rip-off!

While they absolutely fit great and look fantastic, their failure when they snap the first time they have to actually do their job is ridiculous. I can't understand how the author had this experience when I had the same scenario happen the very first day I received and installed it, yet mine pinged louder than an M1 Garand ejecting their en-bloc clip as it snapped apart. To be fair, it did protect my Pixel 9 Pro XL from cracking the body or screen, but it falls woefully short of living up to its "durability" claim. I am highly skeptical it is actually made of "aerospace metals"

Then of course it's radio silence from any customer service rep regardless of the interface (IG, SHOP, direct email from their website, reply to the confirmation/shipping/delivery emails, etc). Not that I'd expect any help since they seem to exclude "Damages incurred through accidental drops, installation errors, normal wear and tear, or other issues caused by the owner are not covered".... while claiming it to be durable because "On impacts, the metal shell distributes the shock onto Arc Impact (the inner elastomer) which absorbs the shock."

Save some money and get a real case for protection, no matter the bulk

Edit: mine snapped exactly where the crack started to develop, so it's obviously a weak point in their design. Considering I have yet to receive a response from the in over a week to at least have them examine it for a warranty claim is why I have to vehemently disagree that this case is useful for anything beyond looks

I started buying carbon fiber cases for 20-30 bucks. Not going back, amazing cases. Yes the protection is not 100% but so far no damage to phone in 3 times that I dropped it on tile. Super slim and super easy to wipe off dirt and fingerprints.

Yeah I have a thinborne aramid case. Amazingly slim and has done well so far. I wanted something more "naked" that showed off the actual phone since I think G actually did a nice job with overall design. The ARC blends extremely well with mine (I have the porcelain color). Just ridiculous that something that costly can't stand up to the first tumble it takes from ~3.5'. But to be fair it did protect it. Once. For ~$90.... I since bought a cheapo OATSBASF Z case from Amazon and it's actually surprisingly functional. It may not last more than a few months to a year depending on how often I remove it but so far it's mint
