I don't have a G6 but if I did that V30 would start giving me the upgrade fever.

DACs have been in phones for a while - V10 had a good combo that was an improvement of the G4's; HTC's Boom sound wasn't just the front facing speakers; Xperia Z3 had very good audio too. What made the V20 special is that is has BOTH a high quality DAC + a powerful amp. HTC 10 is very good with both and the V20 just crushes it, with the Axon 7 firmly right behind it. The G6+ could be in this discussion, but it's limited access right now - although if you got to the right websites, you can buy one.

Audophiles and people like me who like good portable music have been around for eons. It would be a shame if the V30 doesn't continue this tradition.
Everything is pointing to the V30 coming with a dedicated DAC. Hopefully they don't gimp it by limiting it to certain geographical locations.

I see you edited part with S8, mate i hate samsung i would never buy their phone.. Haha... I wrote G8, and i didn't say aswell that the V20 is the 1st phone with dac.. I love music aswell ( owner of ath-m50x & beyerdynamic dt770 ) so you don't need to tell mr about that, but that aint something i would miss, or regret when buying the phone.. But neverless, brofist 😉 no point of arguing... Are you satisfied with v20 ? Sudenlly i can buy it here in croatia but the gsm and crap i'd like to knew how whould that work on our network.

The S8 was a typo.
You did say they put the first DAC in last years phones though. I don't normally upgrade every six months, but I am guilty of upgrading from the G5 to the V20. A lot of people in this forum upgrade very often or own several phone. Mark my word you will see some jump from the G6 or other recent phone jump to the V30, Pixel 2, Note 8, U11 and others as they get released.

I am very happy with the V20, however the V30 has some interesting added features and I don't know the details on all of them, so I'm waiting to see what August 31st brings.

If I had a G6+, unless the cameras are a leap forward, I'd skip the V30. Even if I had a G6, I may skip the V30.

See, if possible I'd have kept the V and G lines separate. Make the G series the mass model with the V series debuting the kitchen sink and you cherry pick certain features for the following year's G line flagship.

But with this convergence that LG is taking, you can argue the reported better camera, clearly better DAC and better processor for many is very tempting.

Well i upgraded last from ios to android went to g3, and the phone was i admit pretty okay ( regardless of bootloop & overheating problems ), and i thought hmm go back to iOS ? No lets give android new chance and i was like u11, s8 didn't want in the 1st place, op5, p10 or the G6 and hell yeah. But i moved from g3 because i begin to lack fast charging, great battery life i have 6,7+ SoT, G3 couldnt go up to 4, idk i travel a lot during rain i mean i love riding a bike on rain ( yeah i know im weird haha ) so i lacked ip68, or 69, and you know. Basicly like you said interesting features i started missing..

I'm quite curious as to why you hate them so bad? I don't love em (personally i only like 2.5d glass) but i'm curious what will you do when every oem makes a curved flagship ? Will you stop using a phone completely or what :p?

The way I hold the phone I always open random apps. Screen protectors for them are terrible, no case will ever actually protect a curved screen. Not every oem will jump on the curved screen. It looks nice but it makes $800+ device that much easier to break.

Very much enjoying my G6 at the moment.

I love music and use my QC35s often. Perhaps having a phone with DAC and using the 3.5mm cable with my headphones would be stellar, but I'm good for now. I never had a device with DAC so I don't know what I'm missing.

I like the look of the V30, but the look, cameras and DAC aren't enough to make me switch. I'll wait to see what the "big deal" is next year for the G7 and V40.

There are cases if you want to encapsulate the entire phone

Have you used those massive cases that add another quarter inch + surrounding the phone. I like a simple thing case that doesn't add bulk to a device. Those don't exist for a curved screen phone. All the ones that provide adequate protection are way too big. I had the Galaxy S8+ already a big phone. Case selection was super limited for what I like. Also there isn't one good tempered glass screen protector for a curved screen. The wet apply protector all eventually peal at the edge.

Yes I have.... At work they gave me an Otterbox for my phone and I stopped using it after two days even though it wasn't big over all because it was smaller Iphone. I didn't say I liked big cases....lol

I have the Quad-dac non-wireless charger G6. Other than the main camera, I am quite happy with the phone. I am finding G6 slightly bigger than what I'd like so won't be too keen on the V30. I'd get a bigger phone only if it had something like an S-pen. I've had the Gear VR for two years and the VR gimmick got old very fast

I have a Xiaomi Mi Note 2 along with the V20 and I was able to find both curved tempered glass screen protector and cases (hard slim and TPU). I do agree that it's a pain getting accessories depending on how curvy they make the glass screen.

I just hope that LG had a well rounded phone and promotional strategy to go with it. Without both, to me, the V30 is sunk.

I just hope it's not curved like Samsung is. A slight curce makes swiping from the edges nice. The full curve Sammy is doing, makes it impossible to have a glass screen protector. If it's just a slight curve then I will most definitely take a serious look at it. So far this G6 is working perfectly for me, so it's hard to switch.

I don't own a G6 because when it came out I refused to give up the DAC and I wasn't keen on losing the removable battery. Now that you guys have had some time in the saddle with the G6 are you getting the fever especially since its getting closer to us knowing what's inside the box?
I have the V20 and I won't give up the DAC which it looks like it will retain. Google DayDream out of the box peaks my interest. Both rear cameras with the same megapixels is looking good. Not sure how I feel about the new slim look but it might feel better. I know some of you will jump....fess up if you think you might.

I still like the 16MP no matter what people say. But I guess having two 13MP regular and wide isn't too bad. 16MP still can capture fine details like leaves and street signs. But for the average person, they just take regular photos and post them online.
