I don't think .230 is worth the switch from .229

IF YOU DO WANT TO DO THIS, THERE WAS AN EXCELLENT PROCEDURE POSTED IN THIS THREAD:

Procedure

And it was put up by: SamuriHL

I worked today for the first time to actually do some of the Root/ROM kind of stuff (I know I didn't root or ROM it, but it's that type of stuff!) to go from .229 to .230.

The only thing I have noticed is numbers changing on the About page. I'm not seeing speed differences, home screen or anything else that is up front and easy to see by the average/slightly above average user that crawls around these sites. The Radio seems the same, camera, homescreen, processor, and other things that I have looked at are just about all the same between 229 and 230.

In summary, I don't think you should really be worried if you can't go back to .902, then .905, then .230... It's just not actually worth the time.

If you haven't taken any of these leaks and put them onto your phone, then I would definitely take .230 for the only reason that it has numbers that are higher, thus more current, than .229.

GPS working ok? I had issues on .2233 and went back to .905. I may give this one a try.

Thanks for the opinion. I am on. 229 and happy. I have found no issues. Far better experience than 905. I think the major noticeable difference with. 230 is Web top is working. Not a feature I use. I will stay on 229 indefinitely since rsd light does not work with me. I am up for renewal in a month and I hope gnex will be available.

The working Webtop is enough for me to make the switch.

The more I use 229, the speedier the phone gets, the better the battery life gets. I'm curious to see how the 228-902-905-230 method affects performance.

I have pinged myself on GPS a bunch of times today. It seems to work, but I haven't actually gone anywhere today.

I am on .223. Is the update to .229 that noticable?

I tried to update to it but it failed. Am I able to update to .229 when on .223 or do I have to revert to 905?

According to everyone on this thread and at other locations, you need to go back to .902, do the OTA update to .905 then update to .230. There is a script that might help you do it retaining your data, however I know so little about this. Really tempted to try it though, just have to decide if I want it bad enough to learn.

From everything I have read on multiple Android sites, you'll have to FXZ to .902, take the OTA to .905 and then flash ICS from stock recovery. Which is why I'm dragging my feet about flashing .230 because I know as soon as I do, .23x will be posted. And since I'm a long time Cyanogen user with my Incredible, I gotta stay up to date on the latest version. :-)

The GPS has worked for me on 2233, 229 and 230. I'm self employed and travel a lot, so I'd know the first thing the next morning if it didn't.

Use SamuriHL's script. It can take a few minutes to set up, and it's not perfect, but it does work and it takes all the pain out of the process. You don't use RSD, you don't lose any data and you never have to boot to GB or do the OTA to 905. It took me about 30 minutes to set up, then another 30-40 minutes to run and in one shot you've dropped back to 902, installed 905 and the latest ICS update and it boots right back to your home screen the way you left it.

Bah, I will jus tstay on .223 until the final release is out. To much work going back to .902, then .905. etc.

Working webtop is a good enough reason to switch, but apparently someone on another forum has had 230 prompted to install on their BIONIC when manually checking for updates. Same build, which possibly means that this is the final release version.

I had issues setting up POP3 email and Swiftkey with .229; issues gone with .230.
More than enough reason for me to switch.

Ok you lazy people listen up! :P We're working on hosting a full zip file of everything you need to run my script. The process to go to 230 from whatever you happen to be on without losing data or apps will be as follows:

-Download and install the latest moto driver manager
-Download my script package (about a gig...links are being worked on as we speak)
-Unzip script package to your desktop
-Plug in your phone to usb and select charge only (GB) or media device (MTP) (ICS)
-Run RUNME.bat and follow the on screen directions

It has all the updates you need included (905 and 230) and has root embedded so that it'll prompt you if you want to apply root or not. And it walks you through the whole process.

Guys, I can't make it any simpler than that. :D The links should be up soon for my package zip.

This lazy guy appreciates your effort and work.

Well, I wrote it for my own amusement cause I'm the laziest person I know. I like things to be automated so that it removes as much guess work as possible and gives reproducable results. Hey, I'm a software engineer, what do you want? :D But I realized others might find it useful and decided to post it. And it's grown from there. This last iteration should be pretty easy for people.

This is awesome. The only thing that was holding me back from applying the latest leak was having to set up everything all over again.

Bionic'd from my tapatalk.

That's what stops 99.9% of the people from installing the leaks. They realize that if it's not OTA, they have to go through a major hassle to get back on the OTA path which usually requires reinstalling their phone. Or worse reinstalling and attempting to restore their data with TiBU and really screwing things up. Then they get all manner of instability because they restored GB system data in an ICS install and blame the update. My script deals with all this nonsense. If you're stock 905, you do a straight update to 230 and you're done. If you're on some whacked out 905 with safestrap and forever root, and all kinds of other crap, you run my script to get back to stock and do the update to 230 and your'e done. If you're on a previous ICS leak, you run my script to get back to stock and do the update to 230 and you're done. ALL of these scenarios do it without touching the apps or data.

The link is now live for the big zip. Mirrors will be added as I get them. Enjoy!

With. 229, i had issues with my weather widgets updating the time on it. I'd show one time in the upper right hand corner of the phone (which was always right) and another time on my widget. It didn't matter which weather widget I used on my phone. I would still have that same irritating issue. Ever since I installed the. 230 leak, that cured that issue for me. I'm happy with this leak.:-)
