I downloaded the latest system update on my Samsung S7 and now wont complete the upload

I repeatedly get a message saying “android is starting. Optimising apps 56 of 56 but the phone does not restart? It is also very hot....

Welcome to Android Central! Try forcing a shutdown by pressing and holding Power and Vol Down for about 20 seconds. Then boot into Recovery and wipe the cache partition: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28028
