I feel dirty but happy

I'd be interested to see the number of iOS devices vs the number of Android devices. I bet iOS is still crushing Android in total sales (remember iOS encompasses all mobile devices; iPads, iPhones, and iPods).

Not to mention how much easier it is to develop for iOS right now.

I still stand by the fact that success can't be measured purely by the number of Apps, but by the quality of apps... If you take the total number into account how many calculators, weight loss aids, etc are you counting? How many do you need? Of the 250,000 Android apps out there how many are on your phone? 10, 15? As long as the developers that build quality apps are developing for Android I'll be one happy camper. Hopefully my perspective on the "app race" cheered you up a little bit :)

I don't think that one has to die in order for the other to be successful. Android and ios have huge user bases and good developer support. Neither is going anywhere.

Playbook or Touchpad, not so much...

Excellent point Ziggster. I am slightly concerned with WebOS gaining market share, if anything they would eat into Android similar to how Android gobbled up RIM users.

I hear the touchpad has a lot of potential, and I do worry that the ecosystem can't support as many players as there currently are/will be (iOS, Android, WebOS, RIM, and soon Windows 8). 2 Players yes, 5... I'm not so sure...

Apple isn't going anywhere any time soon but I could definitely see one of the other players getting some penetration in the tablet market. Especially since Android isn't entrenched yet.
