forgot backup password (fingerprint) on galaxy note 4. how to retrieve it?

i got locked out of my phone cause it didn't recognize them 5 times, but i forgot my password. is there any way to retrieve my password? (NOT GOOGLE PASSWORD)

Re: forgot backup password (fingerprint) on galaxy note 4. how to retrieve it?

I figured this was the only way, unless there's some other Samsung way to do it.

I think it may be the only way.

It seems to be another locked screen password issue with S5's / 6 / Notes, this time because of failing fingerprint scanners, or people genuinely forget they set an alternate backup password - I don't know.

I wouldn't bother with a fingerprint scanner if I get one.

OK I see this as being a great way to get back in your phone.
I have one big problem with this what is the point of a lock on your phone...I know by doing this no personal information is available that is good but if this is known by an average person it can promote theft cos is just that easy.
One area where iPhone has android beat...icloud lock is nearly impossible to brake

The point of the screen lock is to protect your information. If someone else steals the phone, they can do a factory reset and wipe the data, then try to use the phone as their own, but they can't access your data. And if the owner reports the phone as stolen, the wireless company will blacklist the IMEI, rendering the phone useless as a phone.

Blacklisted phone can be used in other areas of the world and as for Android IMEI can be easily changed... Just saying that android should have a better understanding of security

So this just happened to me and I know the solution. If you have a google/gmail account then your email/Google password should be your backup password. It worked for me but not sure if it was a coincidence or not

Hope this helps whoever has this issue!!

Hello, this happend to me also a couple of weeks ago. If you registered your Note (3, 4 or 5) with Samsung you can use the "Find My Phone" feature via Samsung's website which also has a selection to "Unlock" your smartphone.

I hope that helps and good luck!
