I get the message "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped" all the time

This is on a Galaxy S3? If so, my experience of using old devices, running old versions of Android, is that that is what tends to happen - ‘Unfortunately, such-and-such has stopped working’. I’ve found that any fixes are temporary, and not worthwhile.
