I got an Android, but want to go back to the iPhone. Why is this?

Whole thread can be ended by just saying "I prefer android" or "I prefer ios" I think it all comes down to what fits better for each individual.

I used iOS from iOS 3 and still using it as of iOS 7.1. Just updated 2 days back or so.

I realized that android fits me better because of specific things. At first android lagged behind apps but now it's not a big deal. I got familiar with Android in matter of few weeks just like iOS.

I enjoy using both platforms but android is more enjoyable for me.

Unfortunately, for some, that's not enough. One has to be "Objectively" better and they'll work hard to try to prove their case. Me, myself, and I, the 3 of us...we just don't care as long as we get to use platform we prefer when we prefer it, as it'll likely change over the months and years.

That would be completely correct if the planet was populated only by iFans.

The fact remains that you have still not shown evidence for your claim, so it remains an opinion. Which is fine...you're entitled to an opinion.

The topic is why does he want to go back to iOS versus Android.. Not sale figures of iOS and Android. So they aren't exactly on the same page since he didn't say "also the sales of iPhone versus the S4 make me want to switch as well". .

I think "off topic" is completely subjective. IMO, this is relevant to the discussion. Sales do matter because they can be indications of the likelihood of future support, among other things.

And it could be argued that arguing with me about what is on topic is also off topic.

Most Android sales are still not the flagship devices, but a myriad of hundreds of devices released to different markets with an extreme variety of specs, forms, options, prices, etc - while the iPhone is the same 5-6 devices sold across the globe.

The best selling Android devices are flagship devices.

Comparing Android to iOS therefore, it is easy to see that Android sells more and by a lot, although the interpretation of why is a definite point of debate... but no single Android phone sells quite as well as the best selling iOS phone each year

Are you sure? So far we have not seen actual evidence of that. It seems to be an assumption people are making.

Even if its true that the iPhone is the best selling phone every year, meh. That may be because you have us clueless folks buying it without doing due diligence on it, buying it based just on its popularity or the recommendation of a friend or loved one. Some may actually research it and find that they prefer how the iPhone handles things but some are just following the follower. It happens. We're human.

And it could be argued that arguing with me about what is on topic is also off topic.

May be iPhone gives you better user interface.....

The iPhone UI can be replicated on Android. And without needing to root.

Speaking of that... There used to be a plethora of iOS7 themes in the Play Store. I was looking for them yesterday and now there's like only a couple, not even a handful. My go to, good 'ole Glasklart was there and waiting though so that's what I threw on the G Pad.

The UI can't really be replicated on android but some facets of it can be copied, like the lockscreen, dock, and icons. However, that's a far cry from making it iOS7.1 for those that know and find value in 7.1.

IMO this is because the icon grid UI is just not that appealing anymore. Even a lot of Apple fans are sick of it.

The lockscreen doesn't need to be copied anymore...iOS already copied the Jellybean lockscreen.

Not everyone has Jellybean or above on their phone. My HTC Rezound never got updated past ICS.

I have to keep in mind that most android users in the world are not running flagships that get the latest software. I'm sure there's someone out in BFnowhere with a low-end android device that, for whatever reason, wants to make it look like iOS. To each her own.

Exactly! A lot of those people trying to prove their platform is better have never even actually used the one they are trying to discredit. I hope android stays good because switching platforms is a pain. I've done it three times now!

I'm heavily invested, app wise, in both iOS and android so I really will be switching back and forth or using both simultaneously. That's the fun though. Keeps things fresh. I really do want to see android apps increase in polish though. However, as I learn more about why things are the way they are I become more tolerant.

Are you sure? So far we have not seen actual evidence of that. It seems to be an assumption people are making.

My statement was not that the flagships do not sell well or addressing their ranking as individual devices, but rather that the S4, for example, probably doesn't sell as well by itself as all of the no-name devices made over the last couple of years that people still buy across the globe because they can't afford a $600 or even $300 phone, etc. I think that's a large contribution behind iOS not selling well globally: price. Very few countries employ the contract for subsidy model that flagships enjoy here.

One thing I've noticed is the iPhone screen to me compared to android is amazing. The retina display cannot be matched, and is something I miss every time I switch to an android phone. The other Feature for me are the updates. I don't have to worry about not receiving my update because of the different skins my phone maybe be covered with. Then the battery life. Apple just does a great job with their battery life. Finally the smoothness of the UI. Also another feature android has not yet figured out how to do. (Oh yea and the camera, they've always had the best camera no matter how many megapixels people add to their phones).

Looks pretty smooth to me. If anything it might be faster than iOS at this point.

Not sure when you last used an Android phone, but the displays and battery life are unquestionably better than on the iPhone. Cameras are also on par, if not better and the UI is buttery smooth on basically all flagships, maybe with Samsung being the exception

Looking all over the internet, have you ever seen ONE source that said that any particular Android phone has outsold the iPhone? I am not speaking of a quarter or two, but lifetime sales. But plenty can be found that tell of the iPhone dominance in sales. Consistently #1 at the U.S.carriers, #! at Best Buy, just to name a few. But go ahead and don't believe it, and find proof that any single Android phone outsells it.
